The generation and application of Web 2.0 technology promoted the deep integration of social networks and academic fields, and provided scientific researchers with access to and sharing of academic resources, academic exchanges and cooperation, creation and management of personal images, and establishment and maintenance of social relationships. The Academic Social Network Sites(ASNS)came into being.Despite the rapid rise of ASNS incorporating open access mechanisms and social networking concepts, the academic services provided by these online platforms have been criticized by researchers and are far from enough to serve researchers who have specialized needs for knowledge and tools, and have never been able to fully realize their true value for research activities. The scientific research lifecycle is an effective tool for describing scientific research activities. It has important guiding significance for analyzing and grasping the information needs of scientific research personnel and improving the efficiency of scientific research services of relevant institutions. Therefore, this paper takes the research lifecycle as the research perspective, roots in the information needs of users on ASNS,clarifies the core value of ASNS,and proposes corresponding optimization strategies. The structure of the paper is divided into the following:The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly introduces the research background and significance, research status at home and abroad, research methods, research contents and innovations. The second chapter is the concept definition and theoretical basis. It mainly summarizes the concept of ASNS and the function of scientific research service, analyzes the theoretical basis of scientific research user's information needs, systematically expounds the research related to research lifecycle, and summarizes the research lifecycle model applicable to academic social networks. The third chapter is an empirical study on the information needs of users. It mainly conducts semi-structured interviews on information needs, and combines the various aspects of the research lifecycle model to extract the information needs of ASNS based on qualitative data analysis method. The fourth chapter is the discussion of the difference of ASNS users'information needs. It mainly includes the analysis of the user information needs at different stages of the research lifecycle and the analysis of the differences in user information needs of different characteristics. The fifth chapter is the optimization strategy of ASNS research services.According to the results of the survey and analysis,a targeted optimization strategy for ASNS research services is proposedThe sixth chapter is the research conclusions and prospects. The main content and conclusion of the dissertation are concluded. The disadvantages are reflected. The paper draws the following main conclusions:Firstly, summarizing the seven types of ASNS services.Mainly divided into online communication class, literature acquisition class, information subscription class, research sharing class, writing service class, academic resource management class and influence evaluation class.Secondly, building a five-phase research lifecycle model for ASNS.The model includes the research concept stage, the research planning stage, the research implementation stage, the release and dissemination stage, and the research evaluation stage.Thirdly, refining the information needs of ASNS users. The semi-structured interviews are used to capture the needs generated by users using ASNS.The qualitative data analysis method is used to classify information needs into 90 initial concepts,40 sub-categories,19 main categories,5 categories, and 1 core category.Fourthly, analyzing the user information needs in various stages of scientific research lifecycle. The study found that the user's information needs intensity for the research concept stage is higher, for the research planning stage is lower, and for the research implementation stage, the release and communication stage, and the research evaluation stage is generally high.Fifthly, the study found that there are differences in user information needs between different academic levels, different disciplines, and different platform backgrounds.Sixthly, proposing an ASNS research service optimization strategy. It mainly includes promoting academic social services, aggregating the wisdom of scientific research groups, creating scientific research collaboration platforms, seeking deep cooperation in scientific research, opening up personal knowledge management space, integrating management of academic resources, embedding scientific data sharing services, providing research data support, innovating academic reputation evaluation systems, and incorporating multiple evaluation indicators.
