In-depth analysis of the knowledge association and interaction mechanism between science and technology is an important prerequisite for not only grasping the laws and trends of science and technology development,but also promoting the precise application of innovation results.Artificial intelligence is an important strategic industry of the country.Grasping the interaction of scientific research and technological innovation in the field of artificial intelligence can provide a basis for scientific and technological managers to formulate reasonable R&D strategies and enhance China's core competitiveness.However,scholars have not yet conducted in-depth discussions on the issues of science-technology linkage in this field.This paper analyzes the science-technology linkage in the field of artificial intelligence based on methods of information science.From the perspective of the relationship between science and technology,this paper provides the reference for the strategic development of the artificial intelligence industry from which it reflects the strategic support of information science.This paper analyzes the science-technology linkage in the field of artificial intelligence based on patents,especially cited scientific literature of patents,and proposes improvement for the existing related research.The industry-university-research cooperation method of analyzing science-technology relationship of a certain technical field starts with the cooperation patents of enterprises,universities and research institutions,ignoring the independent R&D activities and other cooperative relationships between them,so the science-technology linkage differences of enterprises,universities and research institutions are not fully explored.To supplement it,this paper establishes a complete science-technology linkage analysis framework for R&D subjects.The science-technology linkage study based on category mapping does not consider the time lag of patent citations to scientific papers,this paper proposes the concept of science-technology linkage cycle time to supplement it.The research data used in this paper is the US artificial intelligence authorized patent data collected by the Derwent Patent Database from 2007 to 2016,and the non-patent citation data collected by the US authorized patent database PatFT.Analyzing these data,this paper consists of three main parts:(1)science-technology linkage analysis based on scientific citations;(2)science-technology linkage analysis based on R&D subjects of enterprises,universities,research institutions;(3)science-technology linkage analysis based on category mapping.The research results show that:Firstly,with the gradual maturity of technology,the association between artificial intelligence technological innovation and scientific research tends to be stable.Secondly,in the science-technology linkage of patents,the cooperative inventions of universities are better than their independent inventions,the cooperative inventions between enterprises and universities are better than enterprises'independent inventions.The cooperative inventions between research institutes and universities or enterprises are better than independent inventions of research institutes.Thirdly,the patents of industry-academia cooperation are relatively low,enterprises'R&D activities are more independent,universities are more inclined to cooperate with enterprises.Finally,the distribution of artificial intelligence technology categories and citated science categories shows polymorphism.Artificial intelligence technology associates with different disciplines because of its different applications.The research results provide reference and inspiration for the R&D of artificial intelligence in China.In order to improve the innovation and competitiveness of artificial intelligence technology,the government should strongly encourage enterprises to carry on more R&D activities,apply more patents and improve the property rights protection system.Colleges and universities should actively promote the education of artificial intelligence,train relevant talents for technology research and development.And they should also be encouraged to carry out artificial intelligence-related entrepreneurial practice activities,and quickly cultivate scientific research results.Enterprises should actively cooperate with universities to develop artificial intelligence technology,strengthen talent exchange and knowledge exchange between universities,and promote the connection between technological innovation and scientific research.
