A Research On China's National Image In China-Related Reports Of Global New Light Of Myanmar

In the context of the accelerating process of globalization in the international community,the comprehensive national strength of all countries is constantly increasing,and the construction of national image has risen to the global strategic agenda.Under the background of globalization and the implementation of the"The Belt and Road Initiative",China and Myanmar have deepened their cooperation in the political and economic fields,and the friendly development of China and Myanmar relations has become an important issue between the two countries.This paper takes Myanmar's official English newspaper Global New Light of Myanmar as the research object,collects and collates all news reports related to China from January 1,2016 to December 31,2018,and adopts a quantitative and qualitative research method to analyze China's national image in Myanmar's official media.Through the content analysis method,the sample distribution,the length of the report,the place of publication,the source of news,the theme of news and the tendency of reporting are constructed and coded.By means of objective quantitative analysis,this paper makes statistical analysis and descriptive explanations of the contents of the reports,and uses text analysis method to analyze China's political image,economic image,military image,social image and culture in Global New Light of Myanmar,in order to provide strategies for improving China's national image in Myanmar.The research found that:The political image has different performances on different issues.On one hand,China-Myanmar relations are friendly,but the overall political report is mainly negative.In the economic image,China appears as the image of Myanmar's most important partner and a positive innovator.Military technology image is shrouded in the"China threat theory".The image of social life and livelihood is expressed as a harmonious society that is constantly improving the quality of life but is troubled by environmental problems;the cultural image is characterized with profound cultural heritage.
