The wireless sensor network is a kind of network which covers nodes and communicates in a certain area.It has been widely used in computer,communication,aerospace and other fields,and the sensor node processor is the core control unit in the wireless sensor network.Because of the cost of energy and the application of the harsh requirements of the environment,the power consumption of sensor nodes becomes the primary problem.And the system-level power management technology which has a better reduction in the power consumption of the processor has been widely studied at home and abroad.But the traditional processor power management technology works by increasing the hardware and sacrificing costs and area,and the flexibility of the technology is not high and it has some limitations on reducing power consumption.This paper introduces the background and significance of sensor node processor,the background of power-consumption management technology and the status of power management technology and lower power of sensor node processor at home and abroad in research.In order to solve the shortcomings of the current power management technology,such as too much hardware,cost and the granularity of management.In this paper,we design a sensor node processor(MCU)by means of the dynamic power management(DPM).The improved dynamic power management technology is studied in hardware and software which is based on the specific application of MCU and its own structural characteristics.The improved mode-switching technology which is based on pattern manager is studied by the design of A-IDLE,M-IDLE and so on.The improved dynamic clock management technology which is based on sub-application is studied,and the detecting mechanism of sub-application is put forward.The problem of DPM's granularity is studied and the mechanism by detecting the instructions and its feedback Finally,on the basis of multidimensional research,an improved DPM scheme for MCU is proposed.At the same time,this paper studies the specific circuit which is based on MCU in the system level and the RTL level.And we makes the running power of MCU drop significantly.Finally,the function,area and power consumption of the MCU is evaluated and analyzed before and after the design of the power management.Compared with the result before,MCU's area is increased by 7.9% and the power consumption has a decrease of 42.6% in terms of cost.Meanwhile,the sensor node processor,which has a wide range of optimized design,can still work efficiently.Finally,we verifies the effectiveness of the application-based improved power management system.
