With the development of Chinese society and the continuous improvement of China's comprehensive national strength,the Chinese government and people urgently need to be widely recognized worldwide.This prompted the Chinese government and the media to invest more and more in shaping China's national image.In recent years,the widespread promotion of China's influence has made the foreign media begin to pay attention to the domestic events in China and the action of the Chinese government.China's domestic media has become the agenda setting of foreign media,and the internal propaganda also has the nature of foreign propaganda.Therefore,this paper takes "people's Daily" as the research object,taking the action of the withdrawal of overseas Chinese as the breakthrough point to explore the relationship between the national image and the audience's cognition in the people's daily.Through a large number of literature reviews,based on agenda setting theory,this study is divided into two parts.The first part,based on the theory of agenda setting,uses the method of content analysis,taking the report of the people's daily as an example,to analyze the layout,subject,topic,attitude and so on,and explore the Chinese national image in the report.The second part,according to the specific image of the first part of the country put forward the research hypothesis,trying to explore the relationship between the image of the people's daily and the audience's cognition by quantitative research.This research adopts qualitative research method combined with quantitative research method.The content analysis method is used to analyze the report of the withdrawal of overseas Chinese in the people's daily.According to the related research and the needs of this research,we construct the category.Through the analysis of the four dimensions of issues,genres,reports,and keynote,we find the Chinese national image implied in the report,and then put forward the research hypothesis.The data collection of quantitative research is conducted by questionnaires,and online and offline collection is also carried out.A total of 450 questionnaires were distributed and 400 were recovered.After screening invalid questionnaires,338 valid questionnaires were obtained.The independent sample T test in SPSS is used to explore the relationship between national image presentation and audience cognition.The results show that the report of the people's daily in China has shown a democratic and responsible image of the government,the corporate image of taking the initiative to bear social responsibility and the national image of patriotism.Through the data analysis,it is found that the relationship between the national image and the audience's cognition of the people's daily through the report of the Chinese evacuation is as follows: the government image,the corporate image and the national image of the people's daily will have a positive influence on the recognition of the audience's image of the government.There are still many shortcomings in this study.For example,in the process of exploring the influence of specific media reports on audience cognition,the control experiment method is more reliable,which should be paid attention to in the future research.
