In recent years,the popularity of marriage and love programs in our country has been declining year by year.In 2018,two well-known marriage programs "If You Are the One" and "Chinese Style Dating" have faced a new transformation.Each of them has launched a new intergenerational dating shows which named "New Dating Time"and "New Chinese Match".Trying to find a new starting point.Under this circumstance,this paper analyzes the development and positioning of marriage and love programs based on the background of social development in our country,and tries to use social survey methods based on the theory of communication and psychology to study the psychological motivations and behavioral habits of audience in Jinan.Understanding the "uses and gratifications" of audiences for dating shows.To Find the real reasons for the decline in the ratings and the ways to improve the communication effectiveness of dating shows.This paper conducts empirical research by issuing questionnaires and conducting personal interviews.On the one hand,a questionnaire survey was conducted on nearly 1,000 citizens in the urban area of Jinan,and 341 valid questionnaires were retrieved.On the other hand,35 individual case interviews were used as qualitative materials.Through the analysis of the survey results,it is found that most of unmarried persons do not watch dating shows,and the main audience of dating shows are women over 50 years old;the audience believe that marriage programs should be based on seriousness and serviceability,but they most attracted by entertainment;people are accustomed to watching marriage and love programs on TV,but a large number of respondents use smart phones instead of television,and families with children basically do not watch TV etc..Finally,combining the research results,we proposed the integration of dating shows and mobile Internet,training the habit of people to watch programs with mobile media,improving program's serviceability,changing the media impressions of audiences on dating shows and run in middle-aged and old-aged dating shows etc..Such suggestions provide a reference for marriage program innovation and transformation.
