Narrative Research On VR News

In recent years,virtual reality as a computer technology,which can create an immersive experience has been quickly developing and tried in the vertical industry.The press also begin to conduct the application of virtual reality(VR),resulting in virtual reality news(VR news).At home and abroad,scholars do much research about New York Times and other media's virtual reality documentary or in-depth coverage,to explore its narrative content,ethical dilemma and technical restrictions.As for this growing techonoly applied in the general daily news,the current research is still less.Taking the virtual reality news of Wormhole Net as the sample,this paper take the interview,text analysis and content analysis as methods,to research the application that how the virtual reality is used in the daily news reports.The analysis about the sample news has two parts.One is mainly about news content,including time length,topic type,and value orientation.The other part is five aspects of the Narratology,which are narrative structure,narrative perspective,narrative logic,narrative time and some details.The results show that the daily virtual reality news presents the following characteristics:the first is short-video oriented with personalized expression;then concerned about society livelihood but more vague position;third,single line narrative and story-telling tendency.At the same time,combined with the reality,there are several problems in the virtual reality news practice.The gatekeeper process becomes longer and the whole news production is low both in quality and quantity.Besides,goal users have not changed their viewing habits until now.The last is lack of enough interactivity.For these problems,this paper put forward some measures.The media organization could strengthen the cooperation with diversified distribution platform.Then the press shall cultivate the news compound talents.Also,users have the chance to participate in more offline experience activities of virtual reality news.With the upgrade technology,journalists need to use it more reasonably.
