During the period of 1928 to 1941,Snow lived and worked in China for 13 years.His experience is often talked about,and his works presents to the West an "unknown China".Snow became famous for vividly portraying "Red China" for the first time.His cross-cultural experience and his news text are mentioned seldom.Snow's life in China was a cross-cultural experience.For the cultural difference between China and America,he suffered language,etiquette,values and other aspects of culture shock.For the other reason that Snow's target reader was American,he should converse the cross-cultural visual angle in text production.Therefore,this article analyzes Edgar Snow's experiences in China and his news works from the perspective of cross-culture to research how to cross the cultural barriers between China and America,understand Chinese,and how to tell Chinese story to American in an acceptable way.It is found that Snow has gone through the stages from culture shock to culture adaptation by culture study,extensive travel,rich social and finding familiar cultural values.Snow's work is a cross-cultural presentation.In the process of understanding Chinese culture,Snow consciously transformed his cultural position,consciously transcended the frame model of American culture,got rid of the restriction of the original culture,and empathized to Chinese culture.Snow's work is a cross-cultural presentation.Due to the China policy of the United States and the influence of western journalism,Snow's target audience is American audience,he told Chinese story by a way that American can accept:Snow would introduce China staff to American readers by analogy;put both China and America culture values into his work to make readers accept easily;as a "stranger",kept his advantage,neither accepting Chinese culture,nor abandoning the American mode completely to treat things in a more objective attitude;as a Western journalist professional attitude,with a rational standard of humanitarianism,empirical science to tell Chinese story to American readers.
