Research On The Normalisation Of Online-usage Indicators And Data Of Academic Journals

Under the digital environment,the number of academic journals will continue to increase,forms of use are growing more diversity and networked,the traditional journals usage statistical methods,usage indicators and data have not been enough to objectively reflect the journals usage in the digital environment,therefore,academic journals online usage statistics seem increasingly urgent.At present,Chinese academic journals online usage statistical practice development lags behind,the normalization issue of online usage indicators and data need a breakthrough.Coincides with the time,the rise of new metrology Altmetrics and the successful promotion of COUNTER provide bring a new perspective for China's academic journals online usage statistis.In order to accurately integrate online use data of academic journals,this paper uses the methods of literature research,online survey,comparative analysis and so on,focuses on the normalization of online usage indicators and data of academic journals in China.Through the summary of the relevant research and the state of academic journals' online usage statistics at home and abroad,the paper points out the main problems.Combined principles of Altmetrics,Academic norm and COUNTER,puts forward a conception of normalization of online usage indicators and data of academic journals in China,thus develops the fields of research on usage statistics of academic journals in China and give a reference for the following studies.The main content is as follows:The first section of this paper mainly introduces the research background,significance,framework and methods,summarizes the relevant research on usage statistics of academic journals.The second section are basic theories,define related concepts such as usage statistic,usage indicator,usage data,then introduces theories of Bibliometrics,Scientometrics,Informetrics and Webmetrics,the feasibility of appling Altmetrics into journal usage statistics is analyzed,introduces Academic norm and applies it into journal usage statistics.The third section is the state of of academic journals' online usage statistics at home and abroad,the paper points out the main problems and explores the underlying causes,the literature research and comparative analysis of online survey and telephone survey methods are used in the research.Based on the research from abroad,the fourth section puts forward a conception of normalization of online usage indicators and data of academic journals in China:Based on the principle of Altmetrics and cited indicators frame,this paper puts forward a set of standardized online-use indicators for Chinese academic journals,which are reasonable,comparable and feasibility,then standardizes the indicators from two angles of terminology and calculation,in order to objectively reflect the online usage of academic journals under the digital environment.Combined with the example,the fifth section discusses normalized online usage indicators and data of academic journals in China,confirms its legitimacy,comparability and feasibility,which can objectively reflect the online usage of academic journals under the digital environment.The six section further puts forward some recommendations of achieving online usage statistical standardization of our academic journals from macroscopic perspective.The last section state the insufficient of the research.
