Chinese has been widely used in middle schools in Thailand.Which method of teaching is used to maximize the effect has been a hot topic in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Studying Chinese teaching in Thai middle schools and suggesting reasonable teaching methods can help front-line teachers to improve teaching effectiveness,help experts to compile teaching materials,and provide directions for two nations to train Chinese teachers.The subjects of study were students in the sixth and seventh grades of the third grade of Patongwittayamulnithi School,Hat Yai,Songkhla,Thailand.First,learn about the teaching background of Bozhong Tongqiao School through interviews.Then,choose the sixth and seventh grades of the third grade of junior students with similar Chinese proficiency and learning attitude as the experimental objects,and the experiment time is from October 28,2019 to March 2,2020.At the beginning,the two classes were given a YCT level one simulation test,and the t test method was used to determine that there was no significant difference in the Chinese level of the two classes.The class six third grade uses the audiolingual method for teaching,and class seven third grade uses the grammar translation method for teaching.Finally,the two classes are compared in terms of vocabulary,grammar,written test scores,and YCT secondary tests.The results show that students in the grammar translation method class are better than those in the audiolingual method.By comprehensively comparing the actual classroom conditions with the experimental results,it was found that Thai middle school students have a low level of Chinese,a large class size,and noisy classrooms.Using grammar translation to teach Chinese can improve students' learning efficiency and achieve the best teaching results.In addition,combined with the specific situation of the teaching experiment,the grammar translation method is implemented in Thai middle schools,and strict requirements are placed on the teaching materials and teachers.It is recommended that China and Thailand cooperate to develop high-quality Chinese textbooks,increase the number of hours for training Chinese teachers volunteers in Thai,and strengthen the construction of local Chinese teachers.
