History textbook is an important carrier of history education.Influence by complex factors such as cultural background, political situation and writing angles, there are some differences in the description of the same historical event in history textbooks of different countries.Combining with the high school history textbook published by the people's Education Edition, this paper analyzes the Japanese history in the American high school history textbook World History:Patterns of Interaction, and focuses on the introduction of Japan in American textbook. At the same time, from the perspective of textbook compilation,American textbooks pay more attention to the integrity of historical facts and the cultivation of students' thinking ability, aiming to get closer to the relationships between students and history, which has certain reference significance to the compilation of relevant teaching materials in our country. The introduction of this paper describes the reasons for choosing the topic and the status quo of related research. The first chapter of the text analyzes the arrangement style and characteristics of the American history textbook World History: Patterns of Interaction, and points out that the textbook presents the specific teaching content in the way of "unit-chapter-section",which fully reflects the time sequence and reality. The second chapter mainly analyzes the content of Japanese history in American textbooks from the political, cultural and diplomatic aspects of ancient Japan.According to the exposition of this textbook, ancient Japan was deeply influenced by foreign culture, and especially the Chinese Tang culture had a far-reaching influence on the formation and development of Japanese political system and national culture. In foreign exchanges,Japan combined with its own reality, constantly absorbed foreign advanced culture, and formed a culture with national characteristics. However,in the late ancient history,Japan's foreign policy changed and soon embarked on the road of isolation. The third chapter mainly collates and analyzes the content of modern Japanese history in the textbook. The textbook points out that after the "black ship incident," Japan was forced to reopen its doors. This incident made Japan realize the deficiency of its own strength, began to learn from the West in an all-round way,and carried out all-round reforms through the Meiji Restoration,so as to enter the ranks of great powers. However, under the influence of fascist militarism,Japan gradually embarked on the road of aggression and expansion to the outside world. The fourth chapter summarizes and analyzes the contents of postwar Japanese history recorded in the textbook. After Japan's defeat, the United States carried out separate occupation and carried out democratic reform in Japan. However, after the formation of the Cold War between the East and theWest, the relations between the two countries were reversed and the former enemies became allies. The fifth chapter is the overall evaluation of American textbooks, and points out that the compilation of this textbook provides some ideas for the compilation of textbooks in China. The conclusion part summarizes the contents of the full text, and points out that we should learn from the strengths of compilation in American textbooks on the premise of being in line with national conditions.
