After 1949,the Communist Party of China established a socialist competitive model based on ideology.Under the national system,China has made great progress in competitive sports in a short time, but it has also reflected many problems. This has led many scholars to explore China's national system competitive mode.In previous studies, great importance were attached to “the instrumentality of sports","nationalism construction","modernity",and "the control of ideology" and so on.Besides, athletes are imagined as "mentors of ideology." Therefore, this paper selects the most politically significant table tennis in China as the object of investigation, combined with the oral narration of Shanghai table tennis players after the founding of New China.By analyzing the early development of table tennis,we can further probe into the relationship between competitive sports and politics and analyze the formation of the whole nation system. The point of this paper is that the whole nation system is not a one-way establishment from top to bottom, but the result of interaction between athletes and the government, and the adjustment is constantly being carried out.Although the Communist Party of China practices a set of ideology of socialist competitive sports,in reality,it is not an oppressive instillation to pass the ideology to athletes, except the special period of the Cultural Revolution,The understanding of the "politics" of the national table tennis team's athletes is consistent with that of the Communist Party of China. What's more, the internal motivation and balance mechanisms, along with the "flexible" political and ideological education, have kept the table tennis team highly cohesion. The two-way interaction formed the whole nation system.
