Parental psychological control refers to the control and management of children by forcing their children to think or behave in a specific way with a more stable control strategy. As the most important and most important person in the life of the child, parents has an important influence on the self-worth contingency of the child.Self-worth contingency is the characteristic of whether an individual's sense of self-worth changes with the performance of individuals in the field or other factors. At the same time, the contingency of self-worth also affects whether the child's learning motivation orientation is learning goal orientation or self-certification goal orientation. This study uses literature methods, questionnaires methods, experimental methods and other research methods to collect data of children's self-worth contingency and learning motivation orientation,as well as parents' psychological control level. Then analysis of the relationship among the three was conducted, with a view to supporting parenting, promoting children's self-worth and internal learning motivation. In this study,a total of 116 4-5-year-old children from Shanghai and their parents participated.Researcher used the storytelling method and the task selection method to collect data from children. At the same time, the parents were asked to fill in the questionnaire.According to the study:1.The level of psychological control of parents is generally low,and the level of guilty guidance leads to the highest level of control. Moreover, parents of different generations have different levels of psychological control, and the level of psychological control of grandparents is significantly higher than that of fathers and mothers.2.The change of self-value in the field of children's academic ability is related to the change of children's overall self-value.Moreover,children's self-worth contingency has nothing to do with demographic variables such as age, gender or parent's education.3.Nearly half of the children learn to be more inclined to the master goal orientation, and the motivational orientation of children's learning may be related to the age of the child, and has nothing to do with the child's gender.4.Parental psychological control level is significantly related to the self-worth value of children. For parents with high level of psychological control, their children' academic self-worth is more likely to be contingent.Besides, for the psychological control factors, the higher the anxiety control level of parents, the probability of the child to have contingent self-worth is greater. At the same time, the level of parental psychological control has nothing to do with the overall self-worth contingency of the child.5.Children's self-worth contingency is significantly related to children's learning motivation.Children with contingent self-worth tend to be goal orientated, while children with uncontingent self-worth are more inclined to be learning orientated.6.There is a moderation affect for parental psychological control between young children's self-worth contingency and motivation orientation. When the child's self-worth is uncontingent, the higher the parent's psychological control, the higher the possibility that the child's learning motivation is goal oriented. When the child's self-worth is untingent, the parent's psychological control has no significant influence on the child's learning motivation. This study also provides educational advice for family caregivers and kindergarten educators in the terms of promoting children's self-worth and children's internal learning motivation.
