As the growth of higher education,the quality problems of higher education personnel training in China have gradually emerged,especially the lack of liberal education.The performance is:the cultivation of talents in colleges and universities with narrow professional development or career-oriented utilitarian pragmatism training objectives,too much emphasis on the training of knowledge and skills,lack of cultivation of human mind and thinking;students lack of rationality,the ability to think independently and critically.Isocrates was a famous Greek educator,regarded as the father of liberal education.His liberal education thoughts were aimed at cultivating wise,"the whole people" with virtues,promoting the harmony and civilization of human and city life,thus building a community of human destiny.He designed rational liberal education content,divided into physical training and spiritual edification.The implementation of liberal education content was based on individual teaching methods,using a combination of refutation and critical methods,communication and discussion methods,practical practice methods and so on.The liberal education thoughts of Isocrates were humanistic and rational education that prepared students for life and proper action in a vagaries of society——the ability to promote rational judgment,developing the quality of virtue in morality and the sensibility and appreciation in the aesthetic aspect,to become a wise person.The paper mainly uses the literature analysis method,and hopes to provide some reference for the cultivation of higher education talents in China through the introduction and analysis of Isocrates' liberal education.The introduction part briefly presents the cause and significance of the research,summarizing and evaluating the research on the education of Isocrates and liberal education,outlining the research design of the thesis.The main part of the paper first introduces and analyzes the social and cultural background of the Isocrates'liberal education thoughts.Secondly,it introduces the humanity and talent theory that Isocrates held,the purpose and value of liberal education thoughts.Thirdly,it focuses on the content and methods of liberal education,and discusses the teacher view of Isocrates'liberal education from three aspects,presenting the images of teachers in the minds of people in the classical era and even the Hellenistic era.Next,from the four aspects of humanity and harmony,rationality,public spirit,practicality and practicality,this paper analyzes the connotation of his liberal education thoughts.Finally,it points out the viewpoints worthy of reference in the liberal education thoughts of Isocrates.
