The Construction And Dissolution Of Legitimacy

The political function of sports and the Olympics has always been constructed and enlarged by the media.When the media reports on the Olympic Games,it often uses a specific framework and discourse strategy to present reality,that is,“idea reproduction”,and political ideology is one of the sources of ideas.The political forces of Taiwan's Chinese Nationalist Party(CNP/Blue)and Democratic Progressive Party(DDP/Green)strive to gain the support of the media,or put political input into the media,and infiltrate and divide the interests of social cognition.This article borrows the political concept of "legitimacy",mainly analyzing the report of two Taiwanese media China Times and Liberty Times on Beijing Olympics from the content and form of the two sides.This dissertation aims to analyze the different discourse strategies adopted by the blue and green media reports on the issue of constructing and dissolving the party's ruling legitimacy and obtaining identity.The study found that China Times' report on the Beijing Olympics was mainly based on the construction of the Chinese mainland's ruling legitimacy,and the construction of its own legitimacy in Taiwan and the elimination of the DPP's legitimacy,supplemented by Liberty Times Beijing.The report on the Olympics in the Olympics is mainly to dissolve the legitimacy of mainland China,and to construct its own reporting method in Taiwan,which is complemented by the legitimacy of Taiwan's governance and the dissolution of the legitimacy of the CNP.Specifically,in terms of content,the legitimacy bias is mainly imposed through three aspects: ideology,system and political achievements.In terms of form,from the perspective of text,the two newspapers portray the media images they want to highlight through the headlines of news,and carry out the operation of ideology through hidden methods such as nominalization,metaphor,and meaning transfer of words;in the construction of major news events,the two newspapers exist.Similarity,but the specific narrative strategy is different;from the perspective of context,the two newspapers achieve the propensity of propaganda through different discourse strategies,such as verbal reaction and intertextuality,to achieve the purpose of constructing the legitimacy of governance.
