The requirement of regional cognition is not only students' understanding of the region itself,which is,recognizing the regional geographical location,regional characteristics,knowing the differences and links between regions,discussing the direction of regional development,but also recognizing the region from a regional perspective,which is,evaluating and analyzing the region by regional thought,then make a sustainable development decision.As the basic idea and method of geographic core competence,regional cognition is helpful to solve regional geography problem and ensure the sustainable development of the region.It is one of the necessary abilities for students to learn geography.Nowadays,we have many researches on the content of regional cognition,but lack of relevant research on regional methods and regional perspective.The relevant researches only elaborates from the theoretical level of regional methods,but does not do some researches on the actual ability of regional geography of senior high school students or give specific training suggestions.In addition,for the evaluation of regional cognition,the existing researches rarely test the actual ability of students by examination.By establishing an evaluation index system and formulating an evaluation plan,this paper evaluates the students' geographic regional cognitive ability at all levels of senior high schools in Shanghai,analyses the existing problems and advantages,and puts forward suggestions for improving the students' geographic regional cognitive ability.This paper is mainly divided into the following parts:(1)Introducing the research background and significance,collecting the relevant paper,introducing the research progress and getting the ideas of research content.This research summarizes the concepts and theories related to regional cognition.(2)Analyzing the connotation of regional cognition,while establishing an evaluation index system from three aspects of regional knowledge,regional organization and regional perspective,and inviting relevant experts to evaluate the weight of the index.Finally,giving the evaluation criteria.(3)Using the evaluation tools and the established evaluation index system to analyze the current situation of students' geographic regional cognitive ability,and then draw some conclusions which are: there are individual differences among students,their regional basic knowledge is not solid,their regional knowledge transfer ability is weak,they are lack of regional comprehensive analysis ability and "harmony between man and land".(4)Since the reason mentioned above,this research puts forward some suggestions:(1)Stimulating students' initiative in learning regional geography by applying learning evaluation on their study.(2)Building a solid foundation of regional knowledge and forming "a map in the brain".(3)Carrying out regional cases to improve students' knowledge transfer ability.(4)By geographic practice activities,exercising students' ability of regional comprehensive analysis.(5)Connecting with the reality of life,the concept of " harmony between man and land " runs through all the time.
