Study On The Ethical Dilemmas Of Social Work Students' Professional Internship

Social work is a discipline which emphasizes practice and professional value.Professional internship and ethical dilemmas are important issues in the field of social work research.At present,the research on professional internship and ethical dilemma is rich and the problems of the researches are that they are separated and thus the definition of the concept is vague to a large extent.This study attempts to clarify the connotation of the ethical dilemmas of social work internship,outline the performance of ethical dilemmas of social work internship,analyze its causes,and finally puts forward some suggestions to deal with ethical dilemmas of social work internship.With the method of qualitative research used in this paper and the W welfare institution taken as a research field,the author observes the conducts of the interns in W welfare institution and interviews them to get materials of ethical dilemmas of the interns internship,and then analyzes the materials so as to obtain the results about the social work internship ethics dilemma of interns.In order to study the plight of the social work internship ethics dilemma of W welfare institution interns thoroughly,the author also takes a typical case as an example,describing the process of intervention,and then analyzing the case.Here comes the following conclusions: Firstly,social work internship ethics dilemma in W welfare institution is embodied by the dilemma between direct intervention and internship education which is caused by the conflict between different values and interests,the conflict of double identity interns hold,the different role and responsibility between institutions and the college in internship,and the lack of supervision about professional ethical.Secondly,some suggestions are put forward to deal with the ethical dilemmas of social work internship: on the one hand,the internship environment should be improved by clarifying responsibilities colleges and institutions should take and establishing criterion of professional internship;on the other hand the interns should develop their ability to deal with the dilemma during their internship by strengthening education and training about professional ethics.
