With the development of social civilization and economy, the country has paid more and more attention to economic assistance and rehabilitation training for the physically disabled persons. However, most concentration is focused on the physical rehabilitation, ignoring the psychological rehabilitation and social adaptation because of the lack of external resources. But for the disabled people that are intellectual and energetic, interpersonal communication and social participation are their urgent psychological needs. In real life, most of them do not have complete social support system. They are weak in social relations and they can't establish normal relations with the outside world by themselves. Thus, interpersonal barriers occur. If their interpersonal problems can't be solved in time,it will greatly hinder their integration into society,or bring harm to society. So we need to use social work to help them to solve the problem of interpersonal communication, improve the ability of overcoming difficulties and self-development.We also need to eliminate their interpersonal barriers and promote their return to mainstream society as soon as possible. This study takes Ms.H from Nanjing X support centre for research object,by using case work method to help her eliminate the obstacles of interpersonal communication and resume normal interpersonal communication. In case work, the researcher used semi-structured interviews and participant observation to collect the information of the client. Then the researcher analyzed the barriers and the causes of H's interpersonal communication from three aspects:individual, family and society. In the specific intervention, the researcher used the psychological and social treatment model, combined with the advantages of the perspective of the theory and empowerment theory,to provide social work services for Ms.H.In the direct intervention stage, the researcher solved client's personal reasons of interpersonal barriers by intervention.Through reflective discussion, direct influence, support, catharsis and other techniques, the researcher helped the client link medical resources, correct self cognition, learn basic interpersonal communication skills and establish self-confidence.The clientfs family, peer groups, and community were taken into consideration in the indirect intervention stage. The researcher changed the mother's mode of education, forged relationships with father, students, and community, enhance the client's self-efficacy and interpersonal confidence. In the end of the practice work, the researcher found that the service object has changed the original negative state and has solved her own problems in interpersonal communication. She could integrate into the surrounding environment successfully and establish a good interpersonal relationship with others. She was also satisfied with the whole service process. Finally, this study summarized and reflected the whole service process from three aspects:the intervention model, the role of social worker, and the ethics of social work. From the whole process of practice work,we can find that the psychological and social treatment model is necessary and feasible to solve the problems of interpersonal communication of young people with extremity disability.A lot of methods and techniques of this model have a significant effect on their confidence reconstruction, recovery of interpersonal communication and the return to society. But the model also puts forward a higher requirement for the ability of researchers. It is difficult to carry out the work in actual operation.Acting as roles including service provider, researcher, supporter, and resource raiser, the researcher has successfully helped the service object to eliminate interpersonal barriers. In addition, the researcher should properly deal with the ethical dilemma of client self-determination,the intervention of social worker, confidentiality and disclosure in the process of practice work.
