After the Second World War,international relations and world history all have opened a new chapter and revealed a new connotation. As a former colonial power,United Kingdom still have a consistent historical context with Malaysia even though the Empire declined rapidly.1945 to 1971 was a particularly important and varied historical period in the relationship between the United Kingdom and Malaysia. The evolution of its relationship is not affected by a single level but by the influence of multiple constructions. This paper starts from the perspective of constructivism and uses Wendt's identity identity construction theory as the core argument, and analyzes the connotation of the common concept under the cultural construction of the international system. The two sides discuss each other's identity construction and interaction with each other's identity in order to explore the evolutionary process and nature of the relationship between United Kingdom and Malaysia in this period. This paper is divided into five chapters, which can be generally divided into three parts. The first part introduces the guiding role of constructivism theory in this paper, and shows that the application of constructivism is rich in content and academic thinking from various disciplines including sociology, political science, international relations studies, and history, and it is innovative. The research path has the characteristic value of the cultural dimension of the theoretical approach, the diplomatic decision-making of the identity recognition mechanism, and the construction of a model for interpreting relations among the state actors. Most importantly,Wendt's constructivist theory is based on the epistemology of scientific realism, the ontological theory of conceptualism, and the methodology of holism. It distinguishes identity, conceptual constructive mechanisms, and structural interactions under the shared concept from neo-liberalism.With the novelty of the new realism theory, constructing interests with concepts, the core connotation of the interest-determining behavior explains the significance of "culture".The second part is a phased analysis of the role of identity in the evolution of British and Malaysia relations in different historical periods.Discuss the nature and causes of the changes in the identity of the two sides, and analyze how the two parties mediate under the issues of nationalism,anti-communism,and colonial heritage, and then develop into a process of evolution from cooperation to alienation and separation. The third part considers that the distribution of cultural concepts in the national system, the"motivational role" of the country's own political economy, and the mutual construction of the two sides are the three important reasons for the changes in the relationship between the UK and Malaysia. The transformation of the system culture from Hobbesian to Locke will inevitably lead to the construction of the national identity concept with deep historical roots, the right to independent national self-determination,and the spread of communism will bring about the reconstruction of the status of the state actors; The settlement of issues such as the UK's British disease, consensus politics, and the Third Ring Diplomacy are bound to have an important relationship with the adjustment of their own identity;eventually Malaysia and the United Kingdom both interact with their respective identities and ideas will also interact with the two countries'diplomatic relations. The evolution has had a profound effect. In short, the study of the evolution of the relationship between Britain and Malaysia in this special historical period from the perspective of constructivism provides a new approach to academic research. It also allows more emphasis on the cultural level to develop in history. There is no doubt that this paper is worth academic attempt.
