A Study On The Exchange And Interaction Between The Catholicism And The Traditional Religious Culture Of The Guangxi Zhuang In Modern Times

In modern times(1854-1949),Catholicism began to enter Guangxi in 1854.Until the last foreign Catholic missionary left Guangxi,the spread and development of Catholicism in Guangxi lasted nearly a hundred years.In this nearly a hundred years,the footprint of the Catholic Church is almost full of Guangxi.Since ancient times,Guangxi has been a place where many ethnic minorities live together.Catholics communicated with many ethnic minorities during the spread of Guangxi in modern times,Zhuang is one of the main communication objects.In fact,the communication between Catholicism and the Zhuang people is also an communication between Catholic culture and traditional religious culture of Zhuang.In such a seemingly different Chinese and Western cultural communication,what kind of sparks will they collide?Can they "knot" a new cultural?What is the reason for these phenomena?And in the process of such exchanges,what kind of influence will it bring to the Zhuang inhabited area in Guangxi?These are all issues that this article will explore.This paper starts with the perspective of ethnology and religious culture,comprehensive and systematic study the spread of Catholicism in Guangxi in the modern times(1854-1949)and the Communication between Catholicism and traditional religious culture of Zhuang,based on Chinese and foreign literature which spend a lot of time collected.It focuses on the reasons why these two different religious cultures can be merged and lead to the fusion of certain cultural forms,and the influence of the introduction of Catholicism on the history and culture of the Zhuang inhabited area in Guangxi.The paper is divided into three parts:introduction,body and conclusion.Introduction section,that's chapter one explains the reason for choosing this topic and the significance of the topic.Review and summarize the research on the Catholic issue in Guangxi.finally,determine the research ideas and methods.The body part is the second,third,fourth and fifth chapters.The second chapter summarizes the general situation of the spread of Catholicism in Guangxi.Catholicism first appeared in Guangxi during the Nanming period,but its mass spread and influence among the masses was after the second Opium War.The distribution of churches established by Catholicism in Guangxi show that its footprint is almost all over Guangxi.Due to the power of the two major missionary organizations,the Parisian Foreign Missionary Church and the Marino Foreign Missionary Church has changed,the focus of the development of Catholicism in Guangxi has gradually changed from west and south to east.The third chapter compares the distribution of Zhuang inhabited area and the Catholicism church in Guangxi,determining the fact that Catholicism spreads in the Zhuang inhabited area in Guangxi,and it is concluded that almost everywhere the Catholic Church spreads in Guangxi,there are Zhuang people living together.The missionary activities of the Catholicism in the Zhuang inhabited area and the ways to attract people to join the church,such as opening church schools,clinic hospitals,and holding charity activities,basically consistent with the way of missionary in all parts of China.The fourth chapter analyzes the core content of Guangxi Zhuang traditional religious culture and Catholic culture.The Zhuang traditional religious culture and Catholic culture have their own views on the number of worship objects,this first determines that they must have a strong spark in the process of communication.The doctrines,canons and looseness of the traditional religious culture of Zhuang and the strict requirements for Catholic culture in the same respect,further aggravating the collision of two cultures,and it also reduces the possibility of two cultural fusions.Whether the strong collision performance in the process of Zhuang traditional religious culture and Catholic cultural communication,or its few fusion performances have shown that there is a big difference between the two religious cultures.On the basis of the fourth chapter,the fifth chapter further analyzes the subjective and objective reasons for the integration of Catholicism and Guangxi Zhuang traditional religious culture from the following five aspects:the unequal treaties,the protection of local governments,the compatibility of Zhuang traditional religious culture,the looseness of organization and the pragmatic needs of the Zhuang people's religious beliefs.And pointed out the influence of Catholicism in the process of spreading Guangxi Zhuang inhabited areas.lt not only has the positive impact of promoting social progress in the areas where Zhuang people live,but also has the negative impact of disturbing the social life order of Zhuang and infringing the interests of the region.However,due to the special circumstances of the time that when the Catholic Church was introduced into the Guangxi Zhuang inhabited areas in the modern times and the identity of the missionary,we should objectively see that the negative impact of Catholicism in the areas where the Zhuang people live in Guangxi is far greater than its positive impact in the modern times.The sixth chapter is the conclusion,mainly review and summarize the views of this article.And put forward some opinions on the study of the spread and development of modern Catholicism in the Zhuang inhabited area in Guangxi.
