Nigeria,located in west Africa,is one of the most populous countries in Africa.Her official language is English.Other foreign languages include French,Portuguese,etc.Although these foreign languages have been introduced in primary and secondary schools,but they are not widely used.Because there are more than 200 ethnic groups and each ethnic speak their own mother tongue.With the rapid development of China-Africa cooperation and China-Nigeria cooperation,the demand for Chinese language have increased.In Nigeria,the Chinese language teaching has been well received by many people.Presently,a lot of people are learning Chinese and its popularity is very high,but the number of Chinese learners is not enough,the Chinese language specialized translators are not enough to meet the needs of the society.The author believes that these problems are closely related to Chinese teaching in Nigeria.Therefore,in order to solve the above problems and develop Chinese teaching in Nigeria,it is necessary to investigate the teacher's strength,teacher-student relationship,classroom setting,classroom teaching,extracurricular language contact and cultural exchange.The author investigated the problems of Chinese teaching in Nigeria by studying Dr Nnamudi Azikiwe University Confucius Institute,and Federal polytechnic Oko Chinese Classroom.This paper work has four chapters,chapter one includes introduction,background of research,significance of research,research summary and research method.The second chapter summarizes the current situation of Chinese teaching in Nigeria,briefly describes the current situation of Chinese teaching in Af'rica,the policies and course of Chinese education in Nigeria.The third chapter surveys and analyses the learning satisfaction and Chinese teaching needs of Confucius Institute in Nigeria,briefly introduces the process of questionnaire design,and makes a careful investigation and analysis on the questionnaire data.Chapter ? point out some of'the problems in Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute in Nigeria,thereby gives corresponding recommendations.
