Ryunosuke Akutagawais a famous novelist in Japan.His fiction is novel,artful and deeply loved by readers.Thetranslation ofAkutagawa's work intoChina is relatively early.The researches of dometic scholars on Akutagawa are very rich,and the research is extensive and achieved certain results.This thesis starts with the topic of "madness",which is accompanied with his life.The main object of the study is the novel works of Akutagawa,and the exploration of "madness" in his novels by means of reading.Akutagawa's mad mother makes the problem of "madness" became the daily life of him.And it appears frequently in his literary creation.The problem of "madness" is thething that can't be avoided when it comes to the interpretation of Akutagawa.There is someremarkable difference between the attitude and the emotion of madnessin his different stages of creation from 1917 to 1919 and till 1927.It presents his continuous exploration of this problem.This thesis mainly relies on Freud and Foucault's theory of "madness",which analyzes and interprets the text of the problem of "madness" in his novels.The first is the fear and anxiety of "madness" in the early days of 1917,like the fear of being "mad" and "mad" as an instinctive fear.But in 1919,this simple fear gradually diminishes.Instead,there is an attitude of scrutiny.The writer began to take a distant view of madness,and raised his own doubts in the examination.By the end of his creation in 1926,the fear of "madness" has been transformed into a unique way of thinking about society and life.During the exploration of "madness" in differentperiods,"madness" has been internalized as a unique perspective ofhim,whenAkutagawa realized the transcendence of "madness" invisibly.
