Hippolyte Adolf Taine,who is a representative of the historical and cultural schools that influenced the nineteenth and later generations,has the most influential three-factor theory of race,age,and environment in his book Philosophy of the Arts.And there are many people who study this theory,and the theory about art criticism standards in this work has also attracted a lot of attention and research in later generations,but it often stays in the theoretical research and criticism of Taine's point of view.As a successor of positivism,Taine's research uses a large amount of literature,historical facts,and experiences to demonstrate his point of view.From this point of view,this is contrary to Taine's research spirit.This paper starts from its two aspects of the characteristics of the discussion and focuses on the “extent of concentration of effects” to explore the substance of “characteristics” and “elements” in its theory,and combines it with oil painting creation.The theory and practice can confirm each other.In addition to the introduction to the first chapter,the dissertation will be divided into three section.The first part: Three criteria for weighing the value of art in Taine.The author will make a detailed analysis of Taine's views on these three standards,elaborate the meanings of the two aspects of "characteristics" in Taine's works,and carding the relationship with the "The extent of concentration of effects",and elaborate on each section.And sum up their own views and opinions,and then to help the core arguments of this paper;The second part: the elements of the effect concentration.The writer will discuss in detail the pros and cons of the two elements that can be used to concentrate the effect,so that readers have a standard of judgment-what elements we should focus on and provide possibilities for further exploration in the next chapter;The third Part: "The extent of concentration of effects" guides and helps the creation of oil paintings.According to the research in the first two chapters,a case study was conducted to explore in detail what elements artists should pay attention to during the practice of oil painting,and apply them to one of their own creations in order to explore the impact on oil painting creation;In the conclusion part,the author will summarize and carding through the research content and results of each chapter in the previous article to arrive at a complete and systematic conclusion that can assist the practice and creation of oil painting.
