In the history of Chinese contemporary literature,the experimental theater plays is a "young" subject.Regarding the origins of contemporary Chinese experimental theatre plays,the academic consensus is that the Absolute Signal directed by Gao Xingjian and Lin Zhaohua,which was staged at the People's Art Theatre in Beijing on September 19,1982,is called the beginning of the Chinese contemporary experimental theatre drama.In the last 30 years,the development of China's experimental theatre dramas has experienced a process of “walking down the altar.” Under the influence of complex discourse contexts,it gradually evolved from elitist and minority to commercialization and popularization.Since the beginning of the new century,in order to achieve survival and development,the main body of the theatrical dramas also have subconsciously embraced the survival rules and tactics of the commercialization of literature and art,and began to experiment and commercialize the theatrical theater,seeking a balance between them.This article seeks to reveal the complex and implicit relations between the avant-garde and commercial duality in the development of the experimental theater in the new century through the consideration of the background of the era of the theater play in the new century.The means of communication and survival strategies clarified the depth of the avant-garde nature of theatrical theater in terms of its form and content,and rethought the problems existing in the survival and development of theater plays in the new century.This article is divided into four chapters except for the introduction.The introduction part firstly traces the research background of this topic in more detail.Secondly,with the birth of the 1982 Chinese experimental theater drama as a starting point,it is divided into three periods from the 1980 s,the 1990 s,and the present year to 2000.The development of the survey and a brief introduction to the research status of the topic;Finally,indicate the research significance and research methods of the topic.The first chapter focuses on the specific analysis of the context of our country's new century theater plays,and briefly outlines its development.From the aspects of economy,literature,art policy,and theoretical environment,they also considered the birth environment of the new theater drama in the new century.In addition,since the beginning of the new century,the theater plays under the impact of commercialization have shown that the vanguard nature has been weakened and commercialized in the inheritance.The overall appearance of darkness in the breakout,which also clarifies the direction of the argument for this study.The second chapter mainly discusses the complicated relationship between the avant-garde,experimental and commercial nature of theater in the new century.Specifically,Meng Jinghui and Lin Zhaohua's creative practice is used as examples to demonstrate that between the abandonment of commercial avant-garde and niche and the conscious pursuit of avant-garde by the creative subject,the vanguard of the new theater plays in thought and form.Binary movements and significant imbalances appear between the two.The third chapter mainly discusses the survival methods and development strategies of experimental theater plays in the new century.This includes researching the cross-border communication between theatrical theatre and novels and films from the perspective of theatrical plays of small theaters,considering the entertainment and commercialization changes of experimental theaters from the perspective of audience demand,and exploring the future of theater theater dramas from the perspective of the rise of private theater companies.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the development of theatrical drama in the new century.Discuss whether under the background of the commercialization of literature and art in the new century whether the experimental theater plays enters the era of“post-drama”,how the Wuzhen Theatre Festival improved and guided the experimental theatre plays,and reflects on the avant-garde aphasia phenomenon of the theater.The concluding briefly reviewed the development and transformation of China's experimental theatre dramas since the new century,and looked forward to the future of theater art including small theater dramas.
