Study On Engravings Of Eight-Immortals In Burial Buildings Of Qing Dynasty In The Northeast Of Sichuan

The eight Immortals are very popular and familiar groups of gods in the traditional culture,their images and figures have become important parts of researches on folk culture and faith.In the northeast of Sichuan,there are so many engraving images attached to the space of the burial buildings,such as animals and plants,opera characters,fairy legends,mundane life,etc.The "eight Immortals" has become the most popular engraving images in this area.Such a large number of images of the eight Immortals including its characters,modeling,craft and so on provide materials and convenient ways for this study.In this article,the collection,arrangement and research of the engravings of the eight Immortals from the burial buildings in the northeast of Sichuan take on their decorative forms,image modelings,carving crafts and aesthetic concept respectively.This article analyzes the decorative structure of "order" with the random and disordered design of folk craftsmen.This article discusses how engravings images get hold of characters of the eight Immortals and how to pursue the abundance of the combined images,and reveals that the unique images of the eight Immortals sprang up in this area because of the participation of tomb owners and craftsmen.On this basis,the article study on the artistic concept and funeral beliefs of the eight Immortals engraving images in this area.The article shows that the eight Immortals are common engravings in this region,and explains its popularity and people's love for it.However,these images created by folk craftsmen are not like the same.What determines the configuration,content,form and shape of these images are customs,family traditions,tomb owners and even the craftsmen's engraving skills in the region,as a result,the engravings of the eight Immortals become such rich and colorful.All of this has broken people's stylized cognizance of folk arts.What ' s more,it reflects people's hope for family thrift and longevity and health.The arrangement and research of this article basically combs out the artistic features of the engravings of the eight Immortals in this region,wishing to explore theregional popularity of aesthetics,carving crafts and the custom of burial sacrifice.In the meantime,it is able to probide empirical materials for the folk arts and beliefs of eight faiths as well as the Sichuan burial arts in Qing Dynasty.It is also in favour of recording and preserving the folk art in Sichuan,China.
