Objective To explore the abnormal platelet parameters of patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)and its possible consequences, and analyze its clinical significance. To explore the impact of Helicobacter pylori(HP)infection on UC patients, and briefly summarize the insights on indications for eradication treatment for HP infected people in China. Methods This research will be conducted in two parts.Part 1:132 UC patients and 208 patients with functional bowel disease from the medical record system correspond to the inclusion criteria were divided in two groups. The platelet count(PLT),mean platelet volume(MPV),large platelet ratio(P-LCR)between two groups were compared.Patients in the UC group were grouped according to disease activity and lesion involvement, and the differences in PLT,MPV,part of inflammation indicators, coagulation indexes and thrombus-related indicators were compared among patients between these groups.Part 2:In the previous part,52patients with UC and 120 patients with functional bowel disease who included the results of the 14C-breath test(14C-UBT)were divided into two groups. The HP infection of the two groups were compared.Patients in the UC group were grouped according to disease activity and lesion involvement.HP infection status was compared among patients between these groups. Results Part 1:PLT of UC patients is higher than the control group,MPV is lower than the control group, the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05);PLT,C-reactive protein(CRP),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)was positively correlated to UC disease activity,MPV was negatively correlated to the UC disease activity, and these results were statistically significant(p<0.05);CRP was positively correlated to the extent of intestinal lesion involvement(p<0.05),and the remaining indicators had no significant correlation with it.Part 2:HP infection rate of UC patients was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05);HP infection rate was negatively correlated to UC disease activity, and negatively correlated to the intestinal lesion involvement, and these results were statistically significant(p<0.05).Conclusion PLT and MPV can reflect the activity of UC patients.UC patients have potential prethrombotic state, which needs the attention of clinicians;HP infection may have a protective effect on UC patients. The indications for eradication of HP need to be carefully considered. |
