In the process of socialist revolution and construction, the Communist Party of China relied on a large amount of political power to carry out transformation and reconstruction in many areas to rural society. The improvement of rural environmental sanitation and the prevention and treatment of peasants’ diseases have become a major and difficult point in rural work.A well-known historical fact is that after the founding of the PRC,the rural health situation has undergone unprecedented changes in a very short period of time. The patriotic health campaign full of political significance is vigorously carried out in urban and rural areas. The cooperative medical system covering a large number of rural areas is widely implemented among farmers.Barefoot doctors all over the fields are constantly engraved with historical imprints. However, behind these ambitions, the rural society has shown a richer historical pattern, providing a rich and diverse historical field for the formation of the relationship between the state and localities in New China. If we can take a closer look at the specific practices within the countryside and the peasants’ own living world,it will be more helpful to explore how modern health systems take root in traditional rural areas and how they have affected rural society. On the basis of previous studies, this article focuses on the rural health practices of Jishan County,Shanxi Province in the collective era,and is dedicated to show the specific form that the rural society presents in the context of the continuous advancement of health services. From the perspective of health and social history, the historical conditions of Jishan County during the traditional period and the establishment of a modern health system, the cultivation of ideas, concrete practice, and typical modeling of Jishan County after the founding of the People’s Republic of China are detailed. The investigation explored how the modern "healthrevolution" led by the Communist Party of China entered rural society and what impact it had on the changes in rural society. This article believes that the formation of a good interactive relationship between national will and local practice is the key to the "revolution".In the process, the will of the state was continuously implemented by localization practices, which has gradually established a modern health care system in rural areas. In addition, the impact of modern health on the countryside is multiple. On the one hand, sanitation to the countryside promotes the transformation and integration of rural society from traditional to modern;on the other hand, the process of sanitation to the countryside is accompanied by the continuous infiltration of national ideology into the countryside, thereby promoting the nationalization of the countryside and the society of farmers。...
