Objective:To investigate the types, lesion locations, and male-female ratio of thumb duplication in recent years. Methods:Clinical materials of 2463 patients of 2796 thumbs treated between January 2012 and July 2019 were collected in Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.A retrospective study of these cases including patient gender, affected side, family history and imaging presentations was conducted. Results:Cases of thumb duplication were right more than left, with a ratio of about 1.7 to 1.The male-to-female ratio of about 1.5 to 1,bilateral thumb duplication had 333(13.5%)patients involved. This finding was different from reports from other foreign and domestic reports.A total of283 thumbs could not be classified according to Wassel,s classification. Conclusion:There is a big difference between the ratio of male to female and left to right of thumb duplication and domestic and foreign reports. The current Wassel,s classification cannot cover all clinical cases.Further clinical studies are needed to raise a more detailed andpractical classification.
