Objective: This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of gut microbiota in hypertensive patients in Qinghai region and explore that gut microbiota possibly exert effects on the pathophysiology of hypertension in this area. Methods: we collected the fresh stool samples from the Han hypertensive patients resident in Xining(2,260 m,n=49),the Han healthy individuals dwelling in Xining(2,260 m,n=35)and the Han hypertensive patients in Wuhan(13m,n=34)respectively,then analyzed the differences of diversity, distribution and compositionn of gut microbiota among aforementioned three groups through sequencing V3-V4 region of the bacterial 16 S rRNA gene. Results: 1.Compared the healthy individuals,We found the gut microbiota of the Han hypertensive patients resident in Xining presented lowerα-diversity(p=0.629),lower abundance of Bacteroidetes and higher abundance of Tenericutes in the phylum(p=0.087;p=0.045)and higher abundance of Streptococcus in the genus(p=0.037).2.Compared to the Han hypertensive patients in Wuhan, the diversity of gut microbiota were higher among the Han hypertensive patients resident in Xining(p=0.060).Their gastrointestinal tracts held higher abundance of Bacteroidetes and Verrucomicrobia(p=2.39e-3;p=0.028,respectively),lower abundance of Firmicutes in phylum level(p=0.027),and higher abundance of Akkermansia,Bacteroides and Gemmiger in genus level(p=0.028;p=9.84e-3;p=2.87e-3,respectively).Conclusion: 1.Compared with the Han healthy individuals from Xining, the gut microbiota of the Han hypertensive patients from Xining were characterized by low diversity, the harmful bacteria highly expressed and the beneficial bacteria low expressed. It was possible that the pathogenesis of hypertension were related to the inflammatory reaction triggered by Streptococcus and the occurence of obesity mediated by Tenericutes.2.Compared with the Han hypertensive patients in Wuhan, the gut microbiota of Han hypertensive patients in Xining were characterized by high diversity, the beneficial bacteria highly expressed and the harmful bacteria low expressed. It was likely that these relatively healthier features of gut microbiota in their gastrointestinal tracts might exert a protective effect on their by inhibiting inflammatory response and balancing energy metabolism process.
