Background With the changes in Chinese dietary structure and lifestyle, the incidence and detection rate of colorectal polyps have gradually increased. The cancer risk of colorectal polyps is very clear. Therefore,it is necessary to screen people with risk factors at an early stage.Several studies have explored the relationship between T2 DM and the occurrence and pathological characteristics of colorectal polyps, but there is still controversy. Objective This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics of colorectal polyps with T2 DM,to further explore the correlation between T2 DM and colorectal polyps.Methods(1)According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,2023 people were collected in our hospital’s gastrointestinal endoscopy center for colonoscopy, and they were divided into T2 DM group and non-T2 DM group according to the existence of T2 DM.Chi-square test was performed on the two groups.(2)The pathological types, locations, numbers and malignant changes of patients with polyps between the two groups are compared Clinical data, using chi-square analysis, two independent samples T test,etc.Results(1)A total of 2023 patients were enrolled,244 in the T2 DM group and 93 were detected intestinal polyps.1779 cases in the non-T2 DM group and 419 were detected intestinal polyps. In the detection of intestinal polyps in the T2 DM group and the non-T2 DM group,it was found that the detection rate of colorectal polyps was higher in those with T2 DM,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.001).(2)In terms of the location and number of polyps: the detection rate of right-sided colon polyps in patients with T2 DM combined with intestinal polyps is higher than that of left-sided colon(P = 0.007),and the detection rate of multiple polyps is higher(P = 0.03),The difference between the two groups was statistically significant.(3)In terms of the pathological types of polyps: In the subgroup of T2 DM combined with intestinal polyps, the detection rate of adenomatous polyps(P = 0.007)was higher than those of non-T2 DM combined with intestinal polyps. And the difference between the two groups was statistically significantConclusion1.The detection rate of colorectal polyps in T2 DM patients was higher than that non-T2 DM.2.The proportion of multiple polyps was higher in patients with T2 DM complicated with intestinal polyps. And Polyps in the right half of the colon were more likely to be detected.3.Patients with in T2 DM complicated with colorectal polyps subgroup were mainly adenomatous polyps.1.The probability of T2 DM with colorectal polyps is higher than that without T2 DM people.2.Multiple polyps account for a higher proportion in T2 DM.3.The proportion of patients with T2 DM complicated with adenomatous polyps was higher than that without T2 DM.
