| Objective:This study aims to compare the reliability and compliance of the self-designed3-day voiding diary and the standard 7-day voiding diary recommended by the International Children’s Continence Society in the diagnosis and treatment of children’s nocturnal enuresis, and to evaluate the clinical characteristics of children’s monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis in this region,so as to provide certain reference for the diagnosis and treatment of children’s nocturnal enuresis in the future. Methods:A total of 250 Patients with MNE were enrolled in this study in the Children’s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and were randomly assigned to record the 3-day voiding diary or the standard 7-day voiding diary. The diagnostic reliability of these diaries was evaluated by comparing baseline data, micturition parameters, the constituent of subtypes and response rate to desmopressin. The compliance of recording was assessed by quality score and degree of completion of diaries between two groups. Then the clinical characteristics of the patients wereevaluated from the data of the questionnaire and the voiding diary.Results:202 patients returned usable voiding diary,97 of which are from standard dairy group and 105 of which are from the modified diary group. There is no significant difference in the severity of nocturnal enuresis between different age groups while polyuria type patients are more common in patients aged 5-7yeays old.No significant differences between these two groups were found in the baseline data, subtype classification,or the response rate to desmopressin. The data quality score and degree of completion of the 3-day diary group were better than those of the 7-day diary group.Among the patients who returned usable diary,119 are male and 83 are female, the ratio of male and female is 1.43:1,most of which are aged 5-7 year old. There is no significant difference in the subtype and severity of nocturnal enuresis between patients with different genders, family history or parents’ education level. Conclusion:Nocturnal enuresis is more common in male patients and younger patients. The modified 3-day voiding diary is reliable in the diagnosis and classification of the patients with MNE,and its compliance is better than the 7-day voiding diary. There is no significant difference in the severity of nocturnal enuresis between different age groups while polyuria type patients are more common in younger patients. |
