Objective:To explore the clinical effects and safety of integrated traditional and western medicine in the treatment of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy(ICP).Methods:This study is a retrospective observational study based on the clinical data of 151 patients with ICP treated in our hospital between January 2015 and December2018.According to the treatment method, the patients were divided into control group(n=100)and observational group(n=51).The control group was treated with ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)capsule and S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine(SAMe)injections.The observational group was given Yinchenhao decoction adjustment for oral administration on the basis of control group.Following one course of treatment over seven days,we evaluated the effectiveness and safety of the drug based on changes in laboratory indicators, improvement of clinical signs, gravida, and perinatal infant outcome. Results:There was no significant difference between the two groups in age(t=0.394,P>0.05),gestational age(t=1.808,P>0.05),and parity(χ~2=0.128,P>0.05).In comparison to the control group, the observational group showed decreased total bilirubin(t=-3.404,P<0.001),decreased alanine aminotransferase(t=-4.099,P<0.001),decreased aspartate aminotransferase(t=-5.672,P<0.001),decreased total bile acid(Z=-7.311,P<0.001),and decreased cholylglycine(Z=-3.533,P<0.001).Furthermore,in comparison to the control group, the observational group reported a lower pruritus score(Z=-2.484,P<0.05),shorter time of pruritis control(t=2.863,P<0.01),and an increased rate of pruritus relief(χ~2=9.804,P<0.01).Finally,in comparison to the control group, the observational group had a longer gestational age(t=3.739,P<0.001),decreased rate of cesarean section(χ~2=4.250,P<0.05),decreased rate of fecal staining of amniotic fluid(χ~2=4.616,P<0.05),decreased rate of postpartum hemorrhage(χ~2=5.635,P<0.05),decreased fetal umbilical arteryresistance(t=-3.618,P<0.001),decreased fetal distress rate(χ~2=4.899,P<0.05),and lastly,an increased newborn Apgar score(Z=-2.767,P<0.01).There were no severe side effects in either group. Conclusion:Compared with western medicine alone, the integrated traditional and western medicine can reduce the level of serum bile acid and bilirubin, protect liver function and relieve pruritus, prolong gestational age, improve maternal-infant outcomes, with high safety.
