| Objective: periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease caused by a complex dynamic interaction between bacterial pathogens and destructive immune responses, resulting in the destruction of periodontal connective and bone tissue and even tooth loss.Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE)is a Systemic, chronic,Systemic autoimmune disease with diverse clinical manifestations that may affect connective tissue, presenting as alternating periods of remission and aggravation. In recent years, several studies have shown that periodontitis is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus.B cell activating factor(B cell activating factor,BAFF)is a member of the tumor necrosis factor family,is found with infection, autoimmune, metabolic disorders, bone reconstruction and tumor related inflammatory diseases are closely related.BAFF has been found to be associated with periodontitis and SLE,respectively, but joint studies on the two diseases have not been reported at home or abroad. In this study,BAFF expression in serum of periodontitis and SLE patients, periodontal parameters and rheumatic immune factors were measured and analyzed to explore the relationship between BAFF expression in serum and periodontitis and SLE.Methods: according to the inclusion criteria,19 patients in the periodontitis group,22 in the systemic lupus erythematosus group,24 in the systemic lupus erythematosus combined with periodontitis group, and 20 in the healthy control group were selected from the department of stomatology and rheumatology, shengjing hospital affiliated to China medical university.Record general information, four groups of subjects cross periodontal probing depth, periodontal probing the depth,PD),clinical attachment loss(clinical attachment loss,CAL),gingival sulcus bleeding index(sulcus bleeding index,SBI).Serum samples of patients in each group were collected, and BAFF content was determined by elisa;rheumatic and immunological indexes of subjects in SLE group and SLE+P group were determined;and the correlation between BAFF content and periodontal indexes in subjects in the four groups was analyzed.Statistical methods SPSS22.0 was used for statistical analysis of the experimental data. Results: 1.4 there was no significant difference in age, gender,BMI,education level and smoking status between the groups(P>0.05).PD and CAL in P+SLE group and P group were significantly higher than those in SLE group and H group(P<0.05).CAL in the P+SLE group was significantly higher than that in the P group(P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in SBI among the four groups(P<0.05).2.Serum BAFF concentrations in SLE+P group,SLE group and P group were significantly higher than those in the healthy group(P<0.05).The serum BAFF concentration in SLE+P group was significantly higher than that in SLE group(P<0.05).3.ESR,SLEDAI and disease duration in SLE+P group were significantly higher than those in SLE group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in CRP,C3,C4 and hormone use time between the two groups(P>0.05).4.The expression level of BAFF in serum was positively correlated with PD and SBI(P<0.01).The expression level of BAFF in serum was positively correlated with CAL(P<0.05).5.There was a significant positive correlation between serum BAFF level and duration of disease and hormone use(P<0.01).Serum BAFF level was positively correlated with C3(P<0.05).6.PD was positively correlated with ESR in the two groups;CAL was positively correlated with ESR,SLEDAI and SLE duration. There was no significant correlation among other indicators(P>0.05).Conclusion: 1.Serum BAFF level in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus with periodontitis is significantly increased, and BAFF may be related to the occurrence and development of SLE and periodontitis.2.The presence of periodontitis may aggravate the activity of systemic lupus erythematosus.3.Serum BAFF may serve as a link between the two diseases for the diagnosis and treatment of the two diseases in the future. |
