Objective:By investigating the general situation,hot-spring bathing habits, and sleep quality of people over the age of 50 who performed hot-spring bathing in Beitang Hot Spring,Shenyang,to understand the status of sleep quality of people with hot-spring bathing habits, and explore the effect of hot-spring bathing on the sleep quality of the people. Methods : This study adopted a cross-sectional survey method to conduct a field questionnaire survey on people over 50 years old who took a hot-spring bathing in Beitang Hot Spring,Shenbei New District,Shenyang City. The questionnaire includes: general situation survey,hot-spring bathing habits survey and sleep quality survey. The self-made questionnaire was used to survey the general situation and hot-spring bathing habits of the respondents, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used to investigate the sleep quality of the elderly.Epidata 3.1 software was used to enter the recovered data.SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used for data statistics and processing.Chi-square test, nonparametric test and analysis of variance were used for single-factor analysis.Binary logistic regression and multiple linear regression were used for multi-factor analysis.Results:1.General situation: A total of 1,224 valid questionnaires were obtained in this survey. The average age of the survey population was 62.78±7.984 years. There were 1,000 people with good sleep quality, accounting for 81.7% of the total surveyed population, and 224 people with poor sleep quality, accounting for 18.3% of the total surveyed population. The average sleep quality of the surveyed population was 5.09±3.018,and the overall performance was good.2.Multi-factor logistic regression analysis results of two categories: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year,1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month, and more than 2 times a week are independent of sleep quality Protective factors(OR=0.33,P<0.001;OR=0.13,P<0.001;OR=0.10,P<0.001).Compared with immersion years of more than 10 years, hot spring bathing less than 5 years and hot spring bathing 5-10 years are independent risk factors for sleep quality(OR=14.69,P=0.01;OR=8.95,P=0.04).Compared with hot springs with high immersion temperature, low temperature hot spring immersion is an independent risk factor for sleep quality(OR=3.83,P=0.01).3.The results of multiple linear regression analysis of the scores of the seven dimensions of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale and hot spring bathing habits: A.Subjective sleep quality: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year, people have better subjective sleep quality 1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month,or more than 2 times a week.Compared with the soaking duration of more than 20 minutes, less than 20 minutes is a risk factor for subjective sleep quality.Compared with people who have been soaked for more than 10 years, the subjective sleep quality of people less than 5 years and 5-10 years is worse. The incidence of poor subjective sleep quality in low and medium temperature hot springs is higher than in high temperature hot springs.B.Sleep latency: Compared with soaking frequency of 1-2 times a year, people fall asleep faster than 1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month,or more than 2 times a week.Compared with the soaking duration of more than 20 minutes, people who have less than 20 minutes fall asleep longer.Compared with people who have been soaked for more than 10 years, people who are younger than 5 years have fallen asleep longer;compared with people who soaked in hot springs after 19:00,they have shorter sleep times before 19:00.Compared with people who soak in high temperature hot springs, soaking in low temperature hot springs takes longer to fall asleep.C.Sleep duration: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year, people with 1-2 times per month,3-4 times per month,or more than 2 times per week have a lower probability of developing sleep disturbance.Compared with people who soaked in hot springs after 19:00,the incidence of sleep time disturbances before soaking in hot springs at 9 and 12 o’clock is smaller.D.Sleep efficiency: Compared with soaking frequency of 1-2 times a year, people who sleep 1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month,or more than 2 times a week have higher sleep efficiency.Compared with people who soak in high temperature hot springs, people who soak in low temperature hot springs have worse sleep efficiency.E.Sleep disturbances: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year, people with 1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month,or more than 2 times a week have a lower probability of developing sleep disturbances.F.Sleep medication: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year, people use hypnotic drugs less often 3-4 times a month and more than 2 times a week.People who have soaked for less than 20 minutes are more likely to use hypnotics than people who have soaked for longer than 20 minutes.Compared with people who soak in high temperature hot springs, people who soak in low temperature hot springs are more likely to use hypnotic drugs.G.Daytime dysfunction: Compared with immersion frequency of 1-2 times a year, people with 1-2 times a month,3-4 times a month,or more than 2 times a week have a lower probability of daytime dysfunction.Compared with people who have been immersed for more than 10 years, people less than 5 years and 5-10 years are more likely to have daytime dysfunction.Compared with those who soaked in hot springs after 19:00,those who soaked in hot springs before 9 o’clock and 9-12 o’clock had a lower probability of daytime dysfunction.Compared with people who soak in high temperature hot springs, people who soak in low and medium temperature hot springs have a greater chance of daytime dysfunction.Conclusion:1.The overall sleep quality of the survey population is good. There are differences in sleep quality between people who took hot-spring bathing at different soaking frequencies, soaking duration, years of soaking habits, soaking periods, and soaking temperatures.2.People who take hot-spring bathing more frequently, maintain the habit for more years, and people who are more accustomed to higher temperature hotspring bathing are less likely to suffer from sleep disorders.3.Hot-spring bathing have a positive effect on the elderly’s overall sleep quality and all dimensions of sleep quality.
