Objective : To investigate the status quo of posttraumatic growth in ovarian cancer patients during chemotherapy, and to apply the posttraumatic growth model to patients to analyze and explore the possible influencing factors,so as to provide a basis for the targeted intervention research and improve their post-traumatic growth level of patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy. Methods : A cross-sectional survey method was used to investigate 264 patients with ovarian cancer undergoing chemotherapy who were hospitalized in 2 grade A general hospitals’ gynaecology and oncology ward in Hefei.Patients was evaluated by the demographic questionnaire,The Distress Disclosure Index Index(DDI),Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ),and Post-traumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI).Epidata3.1 and SPSS22.0 software were used for data entry and analysis of the collected questionnaires. Results :(1)The score of posttraumatic growth in patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy was 55.37 ± 16.62,the score of self-disclosure was 36.33 ± 9.86,the score of social support was 56.87±10.75,the score of confrontation, avoidance and resignation coping was 17.56±5.07,13.97±2.22,9.28±3.06,in addition to the score of resignation coping below the norm, the other two coping scores were higher than norm(all P<0.01).(2)The age, marital status, marital age, working situation, education level, residence, pension insurance, type of medical insurance, number of children, cancer staging and income of patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy aredifferent, there were significant differences in the total scores of posttraumatic growth(all P<0.05).(3)There was a positive correlation between the total score of posttraumatic growth and self-disclosure,social support and confrontation coping(r=0.647,0.605,0.633,P<0.05),a negative correlation between the total score of posttraumatic growth and resignation coping(r=0.476,P<0.05).(4)Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that marital status, income level, education level,self-disclosure,social support, confrontation coping, resignation coping were all entered into the regression equation, all accounted for 63.2% of the variation in posttraumatic growth. Conclusions : There is room for improvement in posttraumatic growth of patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy.Marital status, education level, income level,self-disclosure,social support, confrontation coping and resignation coping are the factors that influence posttraumatic growth of patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy.Medical staff should attach importance to assessing and improving the posttraumatic growth of patients with ovarian cancer during chemotherapy, based on the individual’s different cultural backgrounds,by increasing their self-disclosure level, strengthening their social support, and improving their coping styles(e.g,increasing confrontation coping, reducing resignation coping)and other nursing interventions to promote their posttraumatic growth.
