Chinese Translation And Application Of The Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale

ObjectivesTo form a COPD fatigue assessment tool which is suitable for the background of Chinese culture,conducting a test of reliability and validity of the Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale in Chinese version.Then apply it to measure the current situation of fatigue of COPD patients and analyze the influence factors of fatigue.Method1.The first draft of the Chinese version of Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale was formed through the steps of translation back translation,cultural debugging and pre-experiment with the consent of the original author.130 patients with COPD were investigated with it and then through exploratory factor analysis of the scale,the final Chinese version of Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale was formed.2.To verify the validity of The Chinese version of Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale,it was used to investigate 248 patients with COPD and the result was analyzed by Confirmatory factor analysis etc.3.The fatigue status and its influencing factors of COPD patients were analyzed by using the scale combined with other scales such as physical,psychological and behavioral life style etc.4.Applying SPSS24.0 and Amos23.0 statistical analysis,Cronbach’s alpha coefficient,retest reliability to check the reliability of the scale.Applying project analysis to evaluate the quality of each item in the scale.Applying Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis to evaluate the scale validity of structure.Applying Pearson Correlation Analysis to evaluate the criterion validity of the scale.Applying frequency(percentage),mean ±standard deviation to describe the general data.Applying Independent Sample T-test,Variance Analysis,Pearson Correlation,Spearman Correlation,Multiple Linear Regression and so on to analyze influence factors of Fatigue.Results1.The Chinese version of Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale was formed after the revision.Exploratory factor analysis demonstrated that the scale was divided into three dimensions(perception,body,Psychology),27 items,which accounted for 64.283%of the total variance.The Cronbach’s a of the scale was 0.959,Which was 0.911-0.945 for each dimension,and the retest reliability was 0.934.The specific fitting indexes in Confirmatory Factor Analysis were x 2/DF=3.529,RMSEA=0.869,NFI=0.905,CFI=0.098,FI=0.907,PNFI=0.720,PCFI=0.759.In the analysis of criterion validity,there was a high significant correlation between the score of Manchester fatigue scale and the score of simple fatigue scale in Chinese version of COPD(r=0.843,p<0.01).2.Patients’ fatigue scores ranged from 0 to 54,with an average score of 16.54±11.15.The average score of perception dimension was the highest,which indicated that the patient’s the patient’s perception of his own status of fatigue is more obvious.3.Analysis of influencing factors:the degree of dyspnea,the risk of malnutrition,the level of physical activity,sleep,anxiety and depression of COPD patients are the influencing factors of fatigue.Conclusions1.The Chinese version of Manchester COPD Fatigue Scale has good reliability and validity,which can be applied to measure the degree of fatigue of COPD patients in China.2.COPD patients have fatigue,which should be paid more attention to.3.The degree of dyspnea,the risk of malnutrition,anxiety,depression,the quality of sleep and the level of physical activity of COPD patients are all influencing factors of fatigue.Health care workers should intervene in a targeted manner to reduce the severity of patient fatigue and improve their quality of life.
