The Effect And Significance Of Levonorgestrel Intrauterine System On Sex Hormones

Abjective: To study the effects and significance of levonorgestrel intrauterine birth control system(LNG-IUS)on sex hormones and the changes of uterus,ovaries and endometrial thickness during treatment.Methods: Collecting patients who used LNG-IUS in the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture People’s Hospital from January 2017 to December 2018.To Observe the changes of sex hormone levels,uterus’ and ovaries’ size,and the endometrial thickness before LNG-IUS‘ insertion and3,6,12 and 24 months after LNG-IUS’ insertion.And the changes of sex hormone levels,uterus’ and ovaries’ size,and the endometrial thickness before and after LNG-IUS’ insertion for those subjects who had no adverse reactions,or had irregular vaginal bleeding,amenorrhea,or ovarian physiological cysts after placing LNG-IUS.Results: There were no significant changes in sex hormone levels and ovaries’ size before LNG-IUS’ insertion and 3,6,12 and 24 months after LNG-IUS’ insertion(P>0.05),but it has statistically significant that the endometrial thickness is thinner after placing LNG-IUS than before(P<0.05).The subjects had smaller uteruses after placement of LNG-IUS for 6,12,24 months than before placement,which was statistically significant too(P <0.05).At the same time there were no significant changes in sex hormone levels for those subjects who had no adverse reactions,or had irregular vaginal bleeding after placing LNG-IUS(P>0.05).But it was statistically significant that the levels of E2 in patients who had had amenorrhea,or ovarian physiological cysts after placing LNG-IUS for 3months or 12 months were lower than before(P<0.05),and after re-examination,the level before placement is restored.Conclusions: The treatment of levonorgestrel intrauterine system had no significant effect on sex hormone levels and ovarian function.LNG-IUS is a safe and effective intrauterine system that can be used for a long time...
