Objectives:The aims of this study were to explore the prevalence of subjective cognitive decline(SCD)in menopausal transition nurses and investigate the separate and interact effects of menopausal symptoms, neuroticism and mindfulness on SCD;and then improve the mental health in menopausal nurses. Methods:We adopted multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method and selected departments in 16 hospitals. All nurses who met the standards in the departments were included in the questionnaire survey.Survey tools include general information questionnaire,Subjective Cognitive Decline-9(SCD-9),Big Five Inventory-Neuroticism(BFI),The Short Inventory of Mindfulness Capability(SIM-C).All the analyses were conducted with IBM SPSS 22.0 software.ANOVA,Student’s t test,Pearson correlation, hierarchical linear hierarchical regression were conducted to examine the protective and risk factors of SCD,and to examine the interaction effects of menopausal symptoms with neuroticism and mindfulness.Results:1.General information in menopausal nursesThe mean age of participants was(46.39±4.47)years old, ranged from 40~59 years.Of them,76.2%had normal BMI,87.8%of them had bachelor degree or above,78.1%of respondents only one child, the majority of the participants live with family(93.7%),women with chronic disease were 25.2%,the proportions of suffered life events in the past year were 18.7%;about 78.5%of respondents reported menarche between 13 and 16 years old,59%were in pre-menopause,23.3%were in perimenopause and 17.7%were in post-menopause,the proportions of developing gynecological diseases were 27.9%;66.1%of them from municipal and above hospitals, nearly half of respondents had position(50.6%),and 84.7%nurses had no shift work.2.The status of SCD in menopausal nursesThe total scores of SCD ranged from 0 to 9,with an average score of(5.37±2.47).The average scores of items overall memory function and time comparison were(4.03±1.98),daily activity ability were(1.34±0.75).The results of univariate analysis showed that SCD and two sub-dimensions were statistically different in terms of chronic disease, economic, the relationship of couple, the number of child, recent life event, menopausal stage,official,occupation(Ps<0.05)3.The correlations of SCD with menopausal symptom, mindfulness and neuroticism in menopausal nursesThe scores of menopausal symptom, mindfulness, neuroticism were(10.01±7.21),(22.18±6.75),and(37.69±5.26),respectively.Pearson correlation showed that total SCD and two sub-dimensions had significant correlations with menopausal symptom(r=0.412~0.472),neuroticism(r=0.372~0.424)and mindfulness(r=-0.338~-0.384,Ps<0.001)4.The effects of menopausal symptom, mindfulness and neuroticism on SCD in nursesAll variables were standardized. In hierarchical multiple regression analysis,SCD and two dimensions were regarded as the dependent variable, respectively;significant demographic, menstrual and work characteristics were put in the first layer;the score of menopausal symptom, neuroticism and mindfulness were in the second layer;the interactions of two in three were put into the third layer. The results showed that mindfulness, neuroticism and menopausal symptom, menopausal symptom×neuroticism could predict subjective cognitive decline in menopausal nurses(β=-0.155,0.133,0.309,-0.094,Ps<0.05);mindfulness,neuroticism and menopausal symptom, menopausal symptom×neuroticism could predict the overall memory function and time comparison(β=-0.139,0.126,0.256,-0.115,Ps<0.001);mindfulness,neuroticism and menopausal symptom could predict daily activity ability(β=-0.153,0.122,0.318,Ps<0.01).Conclusions:1.SCD was mild prevalent in menopausal nurses, with a prevalent rate of 16.2%.2.Menopausal symptoms, neuroticism were critical risk factors for SCD;Mindfulness was important protective predictor for SCD;menopausal symptom × neuroticism could predict SCD in menopausal nurses.
