| ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between serum Apelin and AngⅡand the thickness of carotid intima-media thickness in type 2 diabetes(T2DM).Methods:103 patients with T2DM were selected in total in this study. All the patients were divided into two groups based on the thickness of CIMT:normal CIMT(CIMT<0.9mm,NCIMT,n=48)and abnormal CIMT(CIMT>0.9mm,ACIMT,n=55),Healthy Individuals were selected as the normal control group(NC,n=49).Clinical and biochemical parameters were detected among three groups.Body mass index(BMI),waist-hip ratio(WHR),systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),fasting glucose(FPG),HbA1c,total cholesterol(TC)and triglyceride(TG)were measured for all the selected individuals.Besides enzyme-like immunosorbent assay was used to determine fasting serum Apelin and AngⅡlevels of all the people.and SPSS 24.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results:Compared with the NC group,Serum Apelin levels in the NCIMT group were increased[(2031.88±389.04)vs(2483.43±345.22)pg/ml,P<0.01].The level of Apelin in the NCIMT group was higher than that in the ACIMT group,(2483.43±345.22)vs(2243.98±419.35)pg/ml,P<0.01;Compared with NC group, serum AngⅡlevel was increased in NCIMT group and ACIMT group[(94.56±35.28)vs(112.23±38.31)vs(125.82±35.03)pg/ml,P<0.01].Correlation analysis showed that the serum Apelin was positively correlated with WC,TC,FPG,HbA1c(r=0.223,0.271,0.227,0.580,P<0.05 or P<0.01);Serum AngⅡwas positively correlated with HbA1c and TC(r=0.459,0.267,P<0.05 or P<0.01).Logistic binary regression analysis showed that age、SBP、HbA1c and AngⅡwere positively correlated with CIMT thickening, while Apelin was negatively correlated to CIMT(P<0.05).Conclusion:Serum Apelin may be a protective factor for CIMT,while AngⅡlevel may be a risk factor for CIMT,which may be correlated with the development of atherosclerosis in T2DM. |
