Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Scheduling Based On Tasks

Because of natural disasters and other uncertain risks,the number of people with physically dysfunctional and the number of the disabled in China grow dramatically.Physical rehabilitation therapy is of great significance for improving people’s quality of life,promoting patients to take part in all kinds of activities and maintaining social stability and harmonious development.The content of physical rehabilitation therapy is treatment.Therefore,this paper considers the characteristics of physical treatment related to tasks.Firstly,physical tasks include two parts: treatments with equipment and treatments with non-equipment.Secondly,the treatment process for each task contains three phases(the phases of treatment preparation,treatment phase and the phase of end treatment).Each treatment requires a therapist to assist the tasks,the therapist only participates in the phases of treatment preparation and the phase of end treatment,while the therapist does not need to take part in the treatment phase.This paper is about scheduling patient’s daily treatment in the rehabilitation department,and determining the start time of each treatment,the equipment,the therapist and the bed.In this paper,a mixed integer mathematical programming model was used for a benchmark to validate the solution quality with small problem.The genetic algorithm solution is very close to the best target solution of the Cplex,indicating that the method of GA is effective.In order to figure out the real problem based on empirical data for a rehabilitation center in Shenzhen,four experiments were conducted to estimate the validity of the GA.The results showed that the GA can reduce the makespan of the hospital and demonstrated that the feasibility of the GA.The innovation of this paper is to discover the new characteristics of physical rehabilitation therapy and to take the constraints of various resources into consideration,which provides a practical method for scheduling patient’s therapy.
