Study On The Home Environmental Safety Of The Old People

Objectives(1)To understand the current situation of the old people’s home environment safety,and to provide practical basis for strengthening community nursing workers’ intervention on the old people’s home environment safety.(2)To analyze the factors that affect the safety of the old people’s home environment,and reveal the key groups of the old people’s home environment safety intervention and related nursing services.(3)To explore the old people’s cognition and demand status of the home environment suitable for aging transformation,analyze the influencing factors and their relationship with the home environment safety,and put forward feasible suggestions for further improving the home environment safety of the old people and providing suitable aging transformation services.Methods Using the method of cross-sectional survey,selected the old people who had filed in three community health service centers in Lanzhou and agreed to participate in the survey by convenient selection method.The research tools included the general information for the old people,the home environment safety assessment scale,and the concics questionnaire for the cognition and needs of the aged residents for suitable aging transformation in the home environment.All the collected data were entered by Epi Data 3.0 software and analyzed by SPSS 22.0 descriptive statistical analysis,t test,variance analysis,independent multi-sample Kruskal-Wallis H test,multiple linear regression analysis and Pearson correlation analysis were carried out on quantitative data.Results(1)Each items’ average score of the overall environmental safety of the elderly at home was(1.86 ± 0.32),the bathroom environmental safety was(1.21 ± 0.29),the bedroom environmental safety was(1.86 ± 0.26),and the kitchen environmental safety was(2.13± 0.25).Except for each items’ average score of kitchen environmental safety,the other items’ average scores were all below 2 points,and the safety of home environment was below the ordinary level,so there are many items should be improved.There were also many unsafe items in the old people’s home environment,most of which were in the bathroom environment.(2)There were many factors that affect the safety of the old people’s home environment,and different areas of the home environment have different influencing factors(P<0.05).(3)Each items’ average score of the old people’s cognition on the suitable aging transformation of the home environment was(1.27 ± 0.39),and the demand for the suitable aging transformation of the home environment was(1.76 ± 0.82).The majority of the old people had a low level of cognition and demand for the suitable aging transformation in the home environment,which is between completely unfamiliar and understanding.(4)The main factors that affected the old people’s cognition for the suitable aging transformation in the home environment were age and educational level.The main factors that affected the old people’s demand for suitable aging transformation in the home environment were age and hearing.(5)There were a correlation between the home environment safety of the old people and their cognition and demand for the suitable aging transformation in the home environment(P<0.05).Conclusions The results of cross-sectional survey on the safety of the elderly home environment showed that the old people had a low average score of each item on the safety of the home environment,and there were many unsafe items in the home environment,the safety of the home environment needed further improvement.The old people had different areas of home environment and different safety influencing factors,so it was necessary to strengthen home environment safety nursing intervention.The old people had low cognition and demand for home environment suitable aging transformation.The factors that affected the old people’s cognition and demand for the home environment aging transformation were age,education level,age and hearing respectively.There was a correlation between the safety of the old people’s home environment and the old people ’s cognition and demand for the home environment suitable aging transformation.Community nursing workers should strengthen the responsibility of environmental intervention and provide environmental intervention nursing services for the old people.Regarding the old people’s home environment suitable aging transformation,it was suggested that relevant departments should conduct a comprehensive assessment in conjunction with the community,with the focus on the old people who had many unsafe items in the overall home environment.In the future,large-sample,multi-center and inter-provincial cross-sectional assessment studies and intervention studies should be carried out in order to provide comprehensive and high-quality home care services and improve the safety of the old people’s home environment.
