| Objective CXCL8 is one of the important factors affecting the proliferation and metastasis of malignant tumors. This study was to determine the expression of CXCL8 in the primary colon carcinoma of the two groups with and without liver metastasis by immunohistochemistry,to further investigate the correlation between the expression of CXCL8 and the clinicopathological features of colon carcinoma patients and its impact on the survival rate of patients with this type. Methods Detailed clinical pathology data of 50 patients with colon carcinoma liver metastasis and 50 patients with colon carcinoma without liver metastasis were collected in the Gansu Province People Hospital, from January 2012 to October 2013.Detecting the expression of CXCL8 in the primary foci of the two groups by immunohistochemistry. Finally, the relationship between the CXCL8 expression and the detailed clinical pathology data was analyzed. Results CXCL8 was positively expression in 74% and negatively expression in 26% in the colon carcinoma with liver metastasis group, compared with positively expression in 30% and negatively expression in 70% in the colon carcinoma without liver metastasis group. There was significant statistical difference between the two groups(P < 0.01).The high expression of CXCL8 was significantly associated with Lymph node metastasis,Degree of tumor differentiation, and TNM stage in colon carcinoma patients with liver metastasis(P<0.01).The 5-year survival rates of CXCL8 positively expression group and CXCL8 negatively expression group in colon carcinoma patients with liver metastasis were 32.14% and 76.92%(P<0.05),respectively.Conclusion The high expression of CXCL8 was significantly correlation with Lymph node metastasis,TNM stage,Degree of tumor differentiation and 5-year survival rate in colon carcinoma with liver metastases.High levels of CXCL8 expression suggest that colon carcinoma cells have strong proliferation and invasion and metastasis ability. |
