Investigation On Awareness Of BPH And Health Education Needs Of Middle-aged And Elderly Men In Xining Community

Objective: By studying the awareness of benign prostatic hyperplasia and health education needs of middle-aged and elderly men in Xining community,health education and publicity activities can be carried out more reasonably,so that more middle-aged and elderly men can understand the disease,reduce psychological burden,understand the purpose of diagnosis and treatment,master relevant knowledge and self-care skills,as well as discover and change unhealthy lifestyles.Methods: The middle-aged and elderly men(≥40 years old)in Xining community were selected as the research object,and then several communities were randomly selected from the four urban areas in the east,west,north and center of the city.A self-designed questionnaire was used for investigation to obtain the basic information of the research subjects,their knowledge of BPH as well as the contents and methods of health education needs.According to the results of the investigation data,the differences of BPH knowledge and health education needs among different ages,nationalities and educational levels were analyzed and studied.Statistical methods were used to perform statistical analysis on the data and then conclusions were drawn.Results: A total of 1000 questionnaires were collected in this survey,of which 64 were excluded from the study due to incomplete data,and 936 met the inclusion criteria.According to the analysis of the survey results,the older the age,the higher the education level,the more severe the LUTS symptoms,the higher the average BPH awareness,and the higher the demand for health education.Compared with other ethnic groups,the average score of awareness of BPH and health needs of Han nationality were relatively high.There were significant differences in the contents and methods of health education between different education levels and different LUTS symptom levels(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.In Xining community,patients with older age,higher education level and more severe LUTS symptoms had higher awareness of BPH and higher demand for health education.2.Compared with other ethnic groups,Han nationality had higher awareness of BPH and health needs.3.For the content of health education needs,people preferred treatment methods and effects;For the way of health education needs,people preferred community education for medical staff.
