| Objective: To explore the gray matter structure of brain subtle changes and function activity alterations in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)used voxel-based morphology(VBM)and regional homogeneity(Re Ho)methods. Methods: 31 cases of male OSAHS patients and 30 healthy male volunteers were recruited in this study, and they had matched in age, educational years and native living altitudes.Brain structural and rs-f MRI sequences were collected from all participants.VBM and Re Ho methods were utilized to compare the difference of brain structure and function between two groups, and the differences brain areas of gray matter volume(GMV)and Re Ho were extracted to analyze the correlation with the disease indicators. Results: The distribution of GMV,activation and negative activation in the two groups was consistent(P<0.05,Alphasim corrected).Compared with the control group, the OSAHS group had decreased GMV in the parahippocampal gyrus, the fusiform gyrus, the parotid fissure surrounding cortex, the left hippocampus and lingual gyrus(P<0.05,Alphasim corrected). The OSAHS group had decreased Re Ho in the inferior temporal gyrus, the middle temporal gyrus, the calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex, the left superior temporal gyrus and lingual gyrus, and increased Re Ho in the bilateral dorsomedial frontal gyrus, the precuneus, the central posterior, the right medial and paraventricular cingulate, the right hippocampus, the right cerebellem lobules 4 and 5,the riaht caudate nucleus and lenticular nucleus(P<0.05,Alphasim corrected). The OSAHS patient’s apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)was negatively correlated with the Re Ho of the left superior frontal gyrus dorsolateral, and positively correlated with the right inferior temporal gyrus, and the Sa O2 less than 90% of total sleep time during sleep(TST < 90%)was positively correlated with the Re Ho of the right caudate nucleus and putamen nucleus. Conclusion: There are multiple brain areas with structural shrinkage and functional impairment in OSAHS patients, some brain areas structure atrophy may be the basis of function impaired.Re Ho changes in some brain areas are related to the degree of illness. |
