Objective:To systematically review the efficacy and safety of mometasone furoate vs.fluticasone propionate in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods:The databases of Cochrane Library,PubMed,EMbase,CNKI,CBM,VIP and wanfang were electronically searched by computer for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)about the efficacy and safety of mometasone furoate vs.fluticasone propionate in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. The duration of the search was from the inception of the databases to July 2017.According to the Cochrane systematic review method for data extraction and quality evaluation,RevMan 5.3 software was used for meta-analysis.Results:Six RCTs involving 930 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that comparing mometasone furoate and fluticasone propionate, there was difference in single nasal symptom scores includingnasal congestion[SMD=-0.30,95%CI(-0.56,-0.03),P=0.03],runny nose[SMD=-0.28,95%CI(-0.54,-0.02),P=0.04],excepting sneezing[SMD=-0.05,95%CI(-0.04,0.22),P=0.75],nasal itching[SMD=-0.19,95%CI(-0.51,0.13),P=0.25]and adverse reaction rate [OR=0.90,95%CI(0.61,1.32),P =0.58].There was no significantly different on the quality of life scores. Conclusion:Mometasone furoate is more effective than fluticasone propionate in improving nasal obstruction and runny nose symptoms in patients with allergic rhinitis. There is no significant difference in improving sneeze, nasal itching and adverse reactions. However, due to limited quality and quantity of the included studies, more high quality studies are needed to verify above conclusion.
