Objective:To investigate and compare the effect of fibula eccentric fixation and central fixation on the long term union rate of tibia,in order to clarify the similarities and differences between the two methods and better guide clinical work.Method:55 cases with tibia and fibula fractures from the hospital were divided into group A(29 cases)and group B(26 cases)according to the fibula treatment.Patients of two groups were given tibial intramedullary nail central fixation, patients of group A were given fibula intramedullary nail fixation, patients of group B were given fibula plate fixation. The general data, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay,long-term tibial union time and tibial nonunion rate were compared between two groups. Results:All the patients were followed up for 6 to 10 months.Fractures of fibula healed well in both groups, while 1 tibia nonunion patient in group A,6 tibial nonunion patients in group B,and other patients had satisfactory clinical results. In the case of no differences between the A and B groups of general data, the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, tibia union time and tibia nonunion rate in group A were lower than those in group B(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both groups achieved satisfactory results, group A was less traumatic than that in group B,which was beneficial to long term fracture healing.
