Objective: Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis can not be cured at present.Various treatments, such as acitretin,Tripterygium wilfordii, methotrexate and cyclosporin, can only solve the sufferings of patients for a short period, but can not achieve long-term control. It may bring varying degrees of liver damage, myelosuppression and other adverse reactions if someone use these drugs for a long time. The discovery of biological agents provides a new treatment for psoriasis patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of biological agents in the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Methods: Through screening literature, summarizing the existing experimental data, meta analysis, trial sequential analysis(TSA)and calculate the number need of treat(NNT),we evaluate the efficacy and safety of biological agents objectively. Results: A total of 8 drugs were analyzed, the efficacy of drug group is better than the placebo group, the high-dose group is better than the low-dose group. And the differences between the two groups are also statistically significant. However, there is no significant difference between each group in the safety. Conclusions: The efficacy of biological agents is affirmative in the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis. But the safety need further research to verify. So more experiments are needed to verify the efficacy and safety of biological agents in the future.
