Hormone Level Analysis And Therapeutic Effect Of Recombinant Human Growth Hormone On Children With Short Stature Complicated With Rathke’s Cleft Cyst

ObjectiveNowadays,there’s a growing number of children with short stature performing growth stimulation test in the inpatient department.These children conducted the imaging examination of pituitary gland as well.And the pituitary MRI plain and enhancement scan indicated some of them complicated with Rathke’s cleft cyst.We studied whether the related hormone level in children complicated with RCC varied significantly in comparison with the normal ones.We focused on the analysis of therapeutic effect of rhGH on children with short stature complicated with RCC.MethodsA retrospective research was conducted to analyze the clinical data of children with short stature performing growth stimulation test in the pediatric inpatient department from July,2016 to November,2018.We studied children with RCC and the normal ones.Eliminating the children with incomplete data,we analyzed whether the related hormone level in children complicated with RCC varied significantly in comparison with the normal ones by strict statistical method.We focused on the analysis of therapeutic effect of rhGH on children with short stature complicated with RCC.SPSS 19.0 was used to analyze data in our study.ResultsThe research object in our study was 113 children with as short statue.We analyzed the level of hormone secreted by the pituitary gland of these children with growth problems,and it showed the level of sexual hormone 、thyroid hormone、growth hormone、IGF1、adrenocortical hormone had no statistical differencein children with RCC compared with the normal ones(P>0.05).By focusing on theanalysis of the 99 cases diagnosed as short stature with follow-up data,our study showed the height of these chilren with therapy of rhGH improved greatly(P=0.042).And all these children had no RCC related symptoms.The level of related hormone had little change during the rhGH therapy,confirming the safety of rhGH on children with RCC,and proving RCC as a congenital benign dysplasia between the anterior and posterior pituitary at the same time.ConclusionsOur research showed the level of related hormone had no statistical significance in children with RCC and the normal ones.RCC is congenital nonfunctional structural dysplasia generally.The height of the children with RCC improved obviously after treatment with rhGH.And the therapy of rhGH on children was demonstrated as safe.So the therapy of rhGH on children with short stature complicated with RCC is recommended.And outpatient follow-up including examination of hormone and MRI of pituitary gland during treatment is suggested every 3-6 months.If the patients complains of RCC related symptoms such as headache,abnormal vision and hyperprolactinemia;or the size of the RCC is getting larger,a visit to a surgeon is necessary.
