Background: Bradyarrhythmia is one of the common emergencies in children, which can lead to a significant decrease in cardiac output and induce asperger’s syndrome, acute cardiac insufficiency, cardiogenic shock and even sudden death.Timely treatment is crucial to improve prognosis of patients.Temporary pacemaker can rapidly increase the heart rate by stimulating cardiac systole with pulse current produced by external pulse generator, and improve the cardiac output to safeguard vital organs’ blood perfusion.Temporary pacing has become an important first-aid technique, its efficacy and safety in adult patients has been widely recognized, while the evidence in children is still poorly studied. Objective: To explore the characteristics and effects of temporary cardiac pacing on children with bradyarrhythmia by retrospectively summarizing and analyzing the data of 55 patients who had bradyarrhythmia and received temporary pacing. Methods: Clinical data from June 2007 to May 2018 of 55 children with bradyarrhythmia who received temporary cardiac pacing were collected. And,the clinical characteristics and curative effects were retrospectively summarized and statistically analyzed.Besides, the SPSS20.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: 55 cases of bradyarrhythmia included 29 cases of severe atrioventricular block(AVB),sinus bradycardia or cardiac arrest caused by myocarditis,5 cases of III°AVB or sick sinus syndrome caused by cardiomyopathy,6 cases of III°AVB caused by congenital heart disease surgery,5 cases of congenital III°AVB,10 cases of perioperative temporary pacing III°AVB.After treatment,18 cases were clinically cured,36 cases were improved, and 1 case died.As for outcomes of arrhythmia,19 cases recovered to normal heart rhythm,6 cases were improved, and 30 cases were unhealed. Conclusion: Temporary cardiac pacing is a safe and effective prevention and first aid technique, which can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of severe bradyarrhythmia caused by various etiologies, promote the recovery of acute conduction system injury, and reduce III°AVB perioperative risk.
