Objective:Long non-coding RNA(lnc RNA)Braf-activated non-coding RNA(BANCR)was initially found in melanoma cells, and has been proved to be dysregulated in various malignant tumors and might play an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors.Previous studies have disputed the relationship between the expression level of BANCR and the prognosis of certain tumors. In this study, the prognostic value of long non-coding RNA BANCR in malignant tumors was systematically evaluated by a meta analysis. Methods:Pub Med,EMBASE,Web of Science and other databases were used to identify studies evaluating the prognostic significance of BANCR expression in malignant tumors, published before December 31,2018.The literatures were screened by reading the title, abstract and full text. The newcastle-ottawa Scale(NOS)was used to evaluate the literatures that met the inclusion criteria. The correlation between BANCR expression and overall survival was assessed by hazard ratio(HR)and 95% confidence interval(CI).The correlation between BANCR expression and clinical pathological features(lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis)was assessed by odds ratio(OR)and 95%CI.After extracting relevant data, the Rev Man 5.3 software was used for combined analysis.Begg’s test and Egger’s test were used to assess publication bias using Stata 12.0 software. Results:A total of 1420 patients with malignant tumors were included in 14 studies after literature screening.Meta analysis results showed that high expression of BANCR in gastrointestinal tumors(esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and liver cancer)was significantly correlatedwith shortened overall survival(HR=1.94,95%CI,1.38-2.73,P=0.0001).Meanwhile,the high expression of BANCR in gastrointestinaltumors was significantly correlated with positive lymph node metastasis(OR=3.23,95%CI,2.11-4.94,P<0.00001)and distant metastasis(OR=3.14,95%CI,1.81-5.47,P<0.0001).However,there was no statistically significant difference between the expression of BANCR in non-gastrointestinal tumors and patients’ overall survival or positive lymph node metastasis. Conclusions:High expression of long non-coding RNA BANCR in gastrointestinal tumors is associated with shortened overall survival, positive lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis, indicating poor prognosis for patients.
